Job summary

Ommify Technologies in Delhi seeks a backend engineer to build scalable systems, APIs, data-processing workflows, and AI-powered applications. You will translate product requirements into robust solutions and own development from implementation to deployment.

You will work with Python using FastAPI, Django, or Flask; design PostgreSQL databases; operate Docker-based environments; and collaborate with frontend and product teams to deliver production-ready results.

Qualifications

Job description

You will be responsible for building scalable backend systems, APIs, data-processing workflows, and AI-powered applications. We are looking for someone who can understand product requirements, solve technical problems independently, and take ownership of development from implementation to deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Python.
• Build REST APIs, background jobs, asynchronous services, and data-processing pipelines.
• Develop backend systems for AI-powered products, automation tools, and data-driven applications.
• Work with structured and unstructured datasets and optimize data-processing workflows.
• Design and manage PostgreSQL databases and write efficient SQL queries.
• Integrate LLMs, AI APIs, machine learning models, vector databases, and third-party services.
• Build and maintain Docker-based development and deployment environments.
• Improve application performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
• Debug technical issues and deliver production-ready solutions.
• Collaborate with frontend and product teams and support full-stack integration when required.

Required Technical Skills

• Minimum 2 years of professional Python development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Python, OOP, data structures, and algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask, or similar backend frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, relational databases, and SQL optimization.
• Experience building and integrating REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Docker Compose.
• Experience processing and manipulating data using Pandas, NumPy, Polars, PySpark, or similar tools.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, background jobs, and task-processing systems.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, and Linux-based environments.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

AI & Advanced Development Experience

Practical exposure to one or more of the following is preferred:

• Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source model APIs
• RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
• AI agents and tool-calling workflows
• Prompt engineering and structured AI outputs
• Embeddings and semantic search
• Vector databases such as Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate, Chroma, Milvus, or pgvector
• NLP and machine learning model integration
• AI-powered automation and workflow development
• Recommendation, ranking, matching, or classification systems

Full-Stack Exposure

The role is primarily backend-focused; however, basic experience with the following will be an advantage:
