Our Opportunity

Our Full‑Time Faculty role supports Purdue University Global’s School of Nursing. Purdue Global is a public, nonprofit institution offering world‑class education online, and our mission is to increase access to affordable, high‑quality education.

Location

Successful candidates will reside in the Perry, IA area or a commutable distance. The clinical site is located at Dallas County Hospital, 610 10th Street, Perry, IA 50220.

Job Summary

Full‑time faculty have responsibilities in four areas: teaching, service, scholarship, and professional development. The annual workload is determined with the Program Head and may vary. Faculty typically spend the majority of their time teaching, but time allocations may change yearly. Teaching responsibilities include both undergraduate and graduate courses, with assignment based on credentials, program needs, and course type. Service includes leadership roles in departmental or institution‑wide governance, course‑lead, training and mentoring other faculty, student organization facilitation, student portfolio evaluation, curriculum work, vacation relief, and professional organization leadership. Scholarship is optional and varies with faculty interests, developed in consultation with the Dean or Program Head; examples include developing new academic solutions and publishing or presenting scholarly work. Professional Development requires 8 hours per year; additional development may be included in the annual workload by program approval.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a student‑centered learning environment that supports student success.
  • Report student academic progress concerns to Success Coaches or Academic Advisors.
  • Refer student questions regarding financial aid, academics, attendance, or personal issues to the appropriate department.
  • Assist in retention and outreach efforts, including contacting disengaged or absent students.
  • Maintain timely communication with students and the university via Purdue Global email and report student behavioral or Code of Conduct issues.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, continuous improvement sessions, and university committees.
  • Stay current with educational technology trends and incorporate innovative instructional strategies.
  • Maintain accurate, timely student grade reporting and adhere to university style and branding guidelines.
Experience and Qualifications
  • BSN minimum; MSN preferred with 2–5 years nursing experience.
  • Minimum two years of related teaching experience and/or training (online teaching a plus).
  • Active, unencumbered registered nursing license and/or advanced practice registered nursing license.
  • Proficiency with Brightspace LMS preferred; strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time‑management skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism with people at all organizational levels.
  • Discretion with sensitive and confidential information.
