Public Assistance Section 1206 Program Coordinator
THIS IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

LOCATION: INDIANA

Position Description:

We are a comprehensive emergency and disaster management consulting firm with a potential opportunity for a Public Assistance Section 1206 Program Coordinator. The selected 1206 PC will work in disaster-impacted communities coordinating with federal, state and local officials to provide guidance on services available to local communities under Section 1206. This individual may eventually manage staff consisting of damage inspectors, building department, and code enforcement staff. This role may require field-based work in challenging environments and close coordination with project leadership, local officials, and members of the general public.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Travel to selected communities to provide onsite guidance and information regarding the Public Assistance Section 1206 program
• Collaborate with local officials, to verify needs and address questions regarding eligibility, implementation, management, and closeout of the program.
• Provide data management and reporting for field-collected data.
• Assist Program Manager with reporting to federal, state and local officials and agencies.
• Maintain organized records and ensure data integrity throughout the implementation process.
• Manage, implement and adhere to safety protocols and work in compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of and experience with PA Section 1206 programs, including implementation of programs on local levels, management of assigned program staff, creation of reporting, and closeout of program.
• Proficiency in data management tools and programs, proficiency in Microsoft Office, experience with portal-based data entry.
• Strong attention to detail, organized with the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with FEMA’s SDE tool and related guidance preferred.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, and structural systems preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and professionalism when interacting with program stakeholders.
• Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to work 10–12-hour days and stand/walk for extended periods of time.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience conducting damage assessments, building inspections, construction estimating, disaster damage assessments, plan review, permitting, and floodplain management.
• Experience with FEMA’s Substantial Damage Estimator (SDE) tool, NFIP requirements, or post-disaster assessments is preferred.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Ability to work in disaster-impacted areas and austere environments.
• General Physical Activities - include sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, and use of hands and fingers.
• Lifting and Carrying - ability to lift and carry equipment during field inspections, move up to 25 pounds.
• Tolerance for outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and uneven terrain.
• Duration and Repetition - prolonged periods of standing, walking, or computer use, and repetitive motions.
