Job summary

Thanal Trust in Kerala seeks a qualified psychologist to support residents through psychological and neuropsychological assessments, evidence-based psychotherapy, and tailored rehabilitation plans. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to address cognitive and emotional health within a rehabilitation setting.

You will also provide family counseling and staff training to foster a therapeutic environment for residents with brain or spinal injuries and related challenges.

Responsibilities

• Psychological & Neuropsychological Assessment: Evaluate residents cognitive impairment, emotional health, personality factors, and mental status through clinical interviews and standardized tests.
• Individual & Group Psychotherapy: Deliver evidence-based therapies (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to address depression, anxiety, trauma, or adjustment issues related to chronic illness or disability.
• Treatment Planning: Design and monitor customized psychological rehabilitation plans tailored to each residents unique goals and recovery timeline.
• Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, physical and occupational therapists, nurses, speech therapists, and social workers to integrate mental health care into overall physical rehabilitation.
• Family & Caregiver Support: Provide counseling, education, and stress management guidance to family members and caregivers dealing with burnout or emotional fatigue.
• Staff Consultation & Training: Advise care home staff on managing challenging behaviors, supporting residents with brain or spinal injuries, and fostering a therapeutic environment
