Job Purpose
To manage and oversee risk and operations associated with the firm's proprietary trading and dealing activities, ensuring that all exposures, positions, and compliances remain within the defined risk framework. The role requires strong market understanding, analytical ability, and coordination with the proprietary trading desk to maintain optimal risk-return balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Proprietary Risk Monitoring: Monitor real-time proprietary positions across equity, derivatives, commodities, and currency segments; track exposure limits, MTM, margins, and liquidity requirements daily; identify and escalation of limit breaches or high-risk exposures; ensure adherence to pre-approved limits and company risk policies.
- Conduct P&L analysis, position concentration checks, and portfolio sensitivity assessments.
- Collaborate with proprietary dealers, treasury, compliance, and operations teams to support risk processes.
- Provide traders and management with timely insights on exposure utilization, margin requirements, and potential risks.
- Perform stress testing, scenario analysis, and VaR calculations to evaluate potential downside risks.
- Ensure compliance with SEBI, NSE, BSE, MCX, and other regulatory risk management requirements.
- Participate in developing and refining internal RMS policies and systems.
- Collaborate with IT/RMS vendors to enhance system capabilities for real-time monitoring and reporting.
- Identify automation opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency in risk tracking.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or related field. (Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, NISM-Series-VII / Series-XIII preferred.)
- Experience: 5–7 years of experience in Risk Management or Proprietary Dealing oversight in a broking house, trading firm, or financial institution.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and risk management systems (e.g., OmneNest, Neat, or in-house RMS tools).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work in high-pressure trading environments.
