Job summary

Johnson Controls in Pune, India, seeks a Proposal Lead to guide and grow a design team across Access Control, Video, Intrusion, Fire Detection and Building Management Systems. You will mentor engineers, ensure accurate costing, and drive high-quality deliverables for global projects.

The role reports to the POD Lead/Engineering Manager and requires strong communication, customer focus, and collaborative skills to align design activities with business goals.

Qualifications

• BE/ B.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical with 10+ years of design experience and 2–3 years leading a team.
• Experience in fire and security industry is required.
• Strong oral, written and presentation skills are essential.
• Customer focus and service orientation are important.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Develop and mentor the team to build competencies in Security Systems domain.
• Ensure integrated design and estimation with effective costing and pre-design activities.
• Develop skill sets to provide engineering services with high quality.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory environment and internal processes.
• Monitor projects via resource utilization and governance.
• Standardize design and estimation processes across regions via direct and matrix relationships.
• Standardize design deliverables with higher efficiency and productivity.

JOB TITLE: Proposal Lead

Reports To: POD Lead/Engineering Manager

Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading a team of India Design function in India. The person should collaborate with the internal design teams and Design Manager. Develop and mentor the team to build required competencies in the areas of Access Control, Video, Intrusion, Fire Detection, and Building Management Systems. Provide specialist support and knowledge to team in the execution of day-to-day activities, cost, and quality and customer service.

Responsibilities

• To develop and mentor the team to build competencies in the areas of Security Systems
• Ensure integrated Design and Estimation - Effective costing, Estimation and pre-design activities.
• To develop skills sets in the team to provide engineering services with expected quality as a differentiator.
• To ensure compliance with regulatory environment and regulations.
• Project monitoring through resource utilization and compliance to internal processes.
• Standardization of Design engineering and Estimation processes across all regions through both direct and matrix relationships.
• Standardize Design Deliverables with higher efficiency and productivity

Education & Experience

• BE/ B. Tech (preferably Electrical/ Mechanical) with 10+ years of Design experience of which at least 2 - 3 years should be experience in leading a team.
• Experience in the fire and security industry is required.
• Good oral, written and presentation skills
• Customer focus and service oriented.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and able to develop strong working relationships inside and outside the enterprise.
• Excellent people skills, persuasive, and assertive character.
