BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus invites applications for the Project Research Scientist I role in the Department of Biological Sciences to work on an ICMR-sponsored project on host-directed therapies for TB and metabolic disorders in women.

Applications are invited for the position of one Project Research Scientist I in the Department of Biological Sciences at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, Hyderabad, for an ICMR-sponsored research project titled “A target-guided approach for design, synthesis, and screening of host-directed therapies for TB and associated metabolic disorders (PCOS) in women.”

Co-Principal Investigator: Dr. Arnab Banerjee, BITS Goa, andDr. KVG Chandra Sekhar, BITS Hyderabad
Broad area of Research: Metabolic disorder
Duration of the project: 2 Years
Fellowship Amount: Project Research Scientist I: ₹ 56,000 PM + 27% HRA (as applicable)
(Per month- for first year)& 5% increase in salary in the second year
Accommodation: Hostel accommodation for the RA is subject to availability and will be governed by the rules and regulations of the Institute prevailing at the time of the candidate's joining.
Qualification: We seek a highly motivated and recently graduated PhD candidate to join our interdisciplinary research team as a Research Associate. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Life Sciences and a deep understanding of molecular biology, biochemistry, and microbiology.
Eligibility Criteria: PhD in Life Sciences, Zoology, Animal Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or MVSc from a recognized institution. Strong grasp of molecular biology, gene regulation, signal transduction, biochemistry, and microbiology.
Preferred Skills & Experience: Hands-on experience in microbiology, in vitro techniques including mammalian cell culture, Experience in in vivo rodent handling and experimentation, and molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Proficiency in data handling, use of bioinformatic tools, and data visualization is much. A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and write manuscripts. Familiarity with transcriptomics (RNA-seq workflows, data analysis) would be great, but not a prerequisite for selection.
Desirable Qualities: Excellent documentation and communication skills. Prior publications or contributions to peer-reviewed research. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
