You’ll make a difference by

  • Value-Driven Negotiation & Cost Optimization: Leading negotiations to secure optimal terms, conditions, and pricing, driving continuous cost-saving initiatives and value engineering while upholding stringent quality standards.
  • Project & Risk Management: Integrate procurement activities into project timelines, collaborating closely with project managers and engineering teams, and proactively identifying/mitigating risks to enhance project efficiency and profitability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key interface, ensuring smooth communication and alignment among international project teams, engineering, sales, legal, and logistics stakeholders.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, from drafting and execution to monitoring, ensuring compliance with Siemens policies and legal requirements.
  • Cultural Connection & Partnership Building: Bridge communication gaps and foster strong relationships with diverse internal and external partners across various time zones and cultural backgrounds, especially for European projects.
Desired Skills
  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A master’s degree would be beneficial!
  • Procurement Expertise: Significant professional experience (typically 8-12 years) in project procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management within a complex industrial environment.
  • Rail Industry Insight (Crucial!): Demonstrated, in-depth experience within the Rail and/or Locomotive industry, specifically in customer services, aftermarket, or MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) procurement. You know your way around a locomotive/train!
  • Global Project Experience: Proven track record of managing procurement for international projects, with a strong understanding of global supply chains, customs, and logistics, particularly in a European context.
  • Communication Champion: Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills in English (both written and verbal). You can articulate complex ideas clearly, influence stakeholders, and build rapport effortlessly across cultures.
  • Strategic Negotiator & Analytical Problem-Solver: Leverage strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to inform superior negotiation and influencing skills, consistently achieving favorable, data-driven outcomes in complex and challenging situations.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in SAP or other major ERP systems, and comfortable with procurement-specific software and tools.
