Job summary

PATH seeks a Project Lead to advance the Urban Malaria Elimination Project in Mumbai, coordinating technical, operational and strategic efforts with national and global strategies. You will lead PMU activities, guide surveillance, GIS, and data analytics to drive malaria elimination.

The role requires 10+ years in public health programme management, with malaria experience, and collaboration with government and donors. Mumbai-based, on-site position with strong leadership expectations.

Qualifications

• MBBS with MD in Community Medicine/Public Health or related field.
• Additional training in programme management desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall project implementation across intervention wards and develop annual and quarterly plans.
• Monitor progress and ensure achievement of objectives, outputs, and outcomes.
• Guide adaptive management based on epidemiological evidence and program performance.
• Establish and manage the Project Management Unit (PMU).
• Coordinate surveillance, case management, vector control, GIS mapping, and operational research.
• Oversee development and implementation of SOPs, guidelines, and toolkits.
• Provide technical leadership on malaria surveillance, case management, vector control, GIS analytics, and digital health systems.
• Promote evidence-based decision-making through routine data analysis.
• Coordinate with municipal/government bodies, private providers, academia, NGOs, and communities.
• Lead MEL framework implementation and review dashboards and KPIs.
• Prepare technical and financial reports and document best practices and lessons learned.
• Supervise competency-based training, mentor staff, and strengthen institutional capacity.

Overview

PATH is a global nonprofit dedicated to achieving health equity. The Project Lead will provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership for the Urban Malaria Elimination Project, ensuring alignment with national and global strategies and timely achievement of milestones. Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall project implementation across intervention wards and develop annual and quarterly implementation plans.
• Monitor progress and ensure achievement of project objectives, outputs, and outcomes.
• Guide adaptive management based on epidemiological evidence and program performance.
• Establish and manage the Project Management Unit (PMU).
• Coordinate surveillance, case management, vector control, GIS mapping, and operational research activities.
• Oversee development and implementation of SOPs, operational guidelines, and implementation toolkits.
• Provide technical leadership on malaria surveillance, case management, radical cure, vector control, GIS analytics, and digital health systems.
• Promote evidence-based decision-making through routine data analysis.
• Coordinate with municipal and government bodies, private providers, academic institutions, NGOs, and community organizations.
• Lead MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning) framework implementation and review dashboards and KPIs.
• Prepare technical and financial reports in a timely manner and document best practices and lessons learned.
• Supervise competency-based training, mentor staff, and strengthen institutional capacity for sustainable malaria elimination.
• Monitor budgets, ensure policy compliance, and support procurement planning and contract management.

Required Qualifications

• MBBS with MD (Community Medicine/Public Health) or Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Management, Tropical Medicine, or related discipline.
• Additional training in programme management is desirable.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience managing large public health programmes.
• At least 5 years of experience in vector-borne disease control or malaria programmes.
• Experience working with government health systems and international donors.
• Experience in programme planning, monitoring, GIS, digital surveillance, and stakeholder management.
