Job summary

Engie seeks an experienced professional to manage land acquisition for renewable energy project development from predevelopment to delivery. The role involves identifying land parcels, coordinating due diligence through law firms, and securing leases and permits, with heavy emphasis on Gujarat.

Successful applicants will have 10+ years in land acquisition within RE, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of proven experience in land acquisition in the renewable energy sector.
• Thorough understanding of connectivity regulations, land acquisition and regulatory frameworks in select states with end-to-end land acquisition experience.
• In-depth knowledge of land laws and connectivity regulations in Gujarat.
• In-depth knowledge of project development processes, including site selection, permitting, and construction within solar/wind/RE projects.
• Effective communication and negotiation abilities to work with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with external stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel extensively and base within assigned regions for timely aggregation of land parcels.

Responsibilities

• Identify land parcels for Solar & Wind / Hybrid renewable energy projects across states including Gujarat.
• Oversee due diligence on land parcels through law firms and ethics checks of landowners/aggregators.
• Collaborate internally to determine land suitability for RE projects.
• Appoint land aggregators and secure land rights, leases, and permits as per policy.
• Finalise land lease agreements in compliance with regulations.
• Coordinate contracts with land aggregators with internal stakeholders.
• Lead land acquisition during development and support O&M on land related matters.
• Provide internal reports to relevant departments and obtain approvals for payments to land aggregators/landowners.

Job description

About: Manage Project Development activities from predevelopment stage until Project Delivery

• Identify land parcels for Solar & Wind / Hybrid renewable energy projects for states including but not limited to Gujarat.
• Undertake through law firms the due diligence on land parcels, ethics check of landowners and ethics check of land aggregators to meet companys requirements;
• Collaborate internally to determine land suitability for solar, wind, or other renewable energy projects.
• Appoint land aggregators as per the company’s legal policies and through them secure the land rights, leases, and permits for renewable energy projects;
• Finalise land lease agreements, in compliance with local regulations and laws
• Collaboration with various internal local and international stakeholders to finalise the contracts with land aggregators
• Responsible for managing local communities and stakeholders
• Detailed understanding of the relevant regulations for renewable energy projects;
• Ensure all land-related activities adhere to legal requirements and permitting processes.
• Lead land acquisition during the project development and construction phase and provide support to the O&M team for any land related matters.
• Internal reporting to all the relevant departments
• Ensuring internal approvals for payments to the land aggregator, landowners etc.

Successful Applicant must have

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build positive relationships with external stakeholders;
• Willingness to extensively travel and temporarily base within the assigned regions to ensure timely aggregation of targeted land parcels.
