Job summary

Gensler in Mumbai is seeking a senior leader to head the Borderless Interiors team within Work Flex Studio, guiding business, people, and financial operations. You will lead project delivery with design excellence, mentor staff, and drive growth while collaborating with global teams to maximize opportunities.

The role requires 15+ years in interiors/design with strong leadership, business development, and technical proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in interiors/design with leadership and business development.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office.

• Lead and manage the Mumbai Borderless Interiors team, driving technical and operational excellence, team performance, client satisfaction, and strategic growth.
• Partner with global teams, particularly LATAM, to share best practices, resolve challenges, and maximize the effectiveness of borderless resources.
• Build and strengthen relationships across the firm by partnering with Studio Directors, Practice Area Leaders, Client Relationship Leaders, and Borderless stakeholders while promoting the Borderless Studio’s mission and capabilities.
• Support business growth by ensuring timely proposal responses, driving lead generation and business development processes, and collaborating with marketing and team leaders to maximize opportunities.
• Work with the Studio Directors to develop the strategic plan for the Lifestyle Interiors practice and share accountability to meet revenue targets.

Your Role

To lead, direct and manage the Mumbai Borderless Interiors team within the Work flex Studio with respect to all business, people and financial operations, project profitability, inter-company business development, client satisfaction, establishment of high performing project teams, as well as individual employee growth and development.

What You Will Do

Management

• Lead and manage the Mumbai Borderless Interiors team, driving technical and operational excellence, team performance, client satisfaction, and strategic growth.
• Partner with global teams, particularly LATAM, to share best practices, resolve challenges, and maximize the effectiveness of borderless resources.

Business Development & Revenue

• Build and strengthen relationships across the firm by partnering with Studio Directors, Practice Area Leaders, Client Relationship Leaders, and Borderless stakeholders while promoting the Borderless Studio’s mission and capabilities.
• Support business growth by ensuring timely proposal responses, driving lead generation and business development processes, and collaborating with marketing and team leaders to maximize opportunities.

• Partner with the Studio Directors to strategically grow and mentor the team

Project Leadership & Technical Delivery

• Lead and mentor teams in delivering high-quality interior projects ensuring design excellence, technical rigor, and client satisfaction.
• Provide project and technical leadership across all phases, overseeing project delivery, documentation, innovation, quality, and client relationship development.

Staff Development

• Foster a high-performing team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
• Create an inclusive, collaborative, and growth-oriented culture that encourages open communication, engagement, and capability building.

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in the interiors and design field with a focus on design and delivery with proven leadership skills, including business development preferably with hospitality or retail background
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, 3dMax, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office
• LEED / WELL accreditation a plus
• Demonstrated business development skills within the local and global industry
• High level of drive and collaborative spirit to help grow and mentor a dynamic team with engaged team members
• Participation and presence in industry organizations and professional affiliations
