Job summary

Citi is seeking a junior Project Analyst 2 in India to monitor, analyze, and improve processes using Excel/VBA and AI-enabled automation. You will identify gaps, develop automated solutions, and document results, acting as SME for the operations area you support.

The role emphasizes governance of EUCs, risk awareness, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance productivity and accuracy across investor services operations.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in writing and debugging complex VBA macros (Excel-based).
• Understanding EUCs governance and associated risks.
• Experience migrating Excel/VBA workflows to automated solutions.
• Ability to identify business problems solvable with AI and automation.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering for AI models.

The Project Analyst 2 is a developing professional role. Applies specialty area knowledge in monitoring, assessing, analyzing and/or evaluating processes and data. Identifies process gaps and suggests / formulates automated solutions. Interprets data and makes recommendations. Researches and interprets factual information. Identifies inconsistencies in processes data or results, defines business issues and formulates recommendations, procedures or practices. Integrates established disciplinary knowledge within own specialty area with basic understanding of related industry practices. Good understanding of how the team interacts with others in accomplishing the objectives of the area. Develops working knowledge of industry practices and standards. Limited but direct impact on the business through the quality of the tasks/services provided. Impact of the job holder is to the operational area they are supporting. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.

The team is focused on developing, maintaining & supporting governance of EUC ‘s(XL and Macro based tools) & ITESS solutions used by various functions within the investor services business. They are also engaged with teams to help identify opportunities for automation, productivity, risk reduction etc. Further the team has started utilizing AI tools to help build these solutions. Most of these initiatives are run like mini projects.

Responsibilities

• Collect, measure and analyze operational data to help identify the problem and possible solutions.
• With support from the manager & the operations teams take a judgement call on the best solution to take forward.
• With support from the manager craft a plan of action and schedule for building, testing and deploying the solution.
• With support from the manager Identify risks in the solution, perform impact analysis, determine responses to risks, track risks, and execute responses as needed.
• Keep track of their solutions developed including timely reviews, documentation around testing / closure & other requests for information.
• Acts as SME for the operations area they are supporting.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications

• Domain Relevant Experience
• EUC & VBA Expertise:
  • Development & Maintenance: Strong proficiency in writing and debugging complex VBA macros
  • Governance: Understanding the risks associated with EUCs (e.g., data integrity, operational risk, lack of audit trails) and experience with processes for managing and controlling them
  • Process Re-engineering: Analyzing workflows that rely heavily on Excel/VBA and identifying opportunities to migrate them to more robust, automated solutions
• Generative AI & Automation:
  • Solution Identification: The ability to recognize business problems within investor services that can be effectively solved using AI.
  • AI-Powered Solutions: Experience in using AI tools as part of a development process to build new solutions, likely for automating tasks previously handled by manual processes or macros.
  • Prompt Engineering: The ability to craft precise and effective prompts to get desired outputs from Generative AI models for tasks like data analysis, code generation, or content creation.

Education

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
