Qualifications

• 5–6 years of hands-on SAP Basis in a global production support setting.
• Strong knowledge of SAP architecture including NetWeaver and SAP HANA.
• Experience with system copies, client administration, and transport management.
• Ability to independently handle Level 2 and Level 3 SAP Basis tickets.
• Familiar with ITIL processes and SAP-related governance.
• Experience automating routine SAP Basis tasks; exposure to AI tools is a plus.
• Willingness to work after-hours and on-call rotations.
• Bachelor’s degree and SAP certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and resolve SAP Basis incidents and service requests per SLAs.
• Perform daily system monitoring, health checks, and routine maintenance across ECC and GRC landscapes.
• Support SAP installations, migrations, and kernel upgrade activities.
• Administer transport requests following Change Management procedures.
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues using appropriate tools.
• Support database and OS backups, restoration, and recovery operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve Basis-related issues.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge repositories.
• Ensure security, audit, and governance compliance across SAP environments.
• Drive automation of routine tasks and participate in SAP initiatives.

Job description

This role is based in Chennai, India, and is part of the global cross-cultural SAP Basis team supporting BorgWarner’s SAP landscape. Reporting to the Senior Manager - Global SAP Basis, the role will provide comprehensive SAP Basis support across multiple SAP products and platforms. This position offers significant exposure to global teams, diverse SAP environments, and opportunities to enhance SAP technical expertise.

R & R

• Manage and resolve SAP Basis incidents and service requests in accordance with defined SLAs
• Perform daily system monitoring, health checks, and routine maintenance activities across SAP landscapes, primarily ECC and GRC
• Support SAP system installations, migrations, and kernel upgrade activities
• Manage and administer transport requests in line with SAP Change Management procedures
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues using appropriate tools and methodologies
• Support database and OS-level backup, restoration, and recovery operations
• Collaborate with functional and technical teams to identify and resolve Basis-related issues
• Develop and maintain technical documentation while contributing to knowledge repositories
• Ensure compliance with security standards, audit requirements, and governance policies across SAP environments
• Drive automation of routine SAP Basis tasks to enhance operational efficiency
• Contribute to SAP technical initiatives and project implementations

What we are looking for

• 5-6 years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis within a global production support environment
• Strong knowledge of SAP architecture, including NetWeaver and SAP HANA
• Proven experience in system copies, client administration, printer setup, RFC configuration, and transport management
• Ability to independently handle Level 2 and Level 3 SAP Basis support tickets
• Basic understanding of ITIL processes and best practices
• Experience in automating routine and repetitive SAP Basis tasks
• Familiarity with AI tools and their application in day-to-day operations
• Willingness to support after-hours maintenance activities and participate in on-call rotations
• Working knowledge of operating systems (Linux and Windows) and databases (HANA, MaxDB, Sybase ASE)
• Exposure to Azure cloud technologies and SAP Cloud Connector is an added advantage
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
• Structured, detail-oriented, and self-motivated working style
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• SAP certifications in HANA, S/4HANA, or NetWeaver administration are added advantage
• Availability to work from the office at least three days per wee
