Job summary

Leggett & Platt in Ambattur Industrial - Chennai seeks a Program Buyer with 4–7 years in automotive procurement to drive sourcing for new product launches. You will manage RFQ processes, negotiate with suppliers, and develop strategies to meet cost and timeline targets.

Collaborate across Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure supplier readiness and compliance with APQP/PPAP requirements. The role requires strong supplier management, cost analysis, and experience with Tier-1/2

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, or related).
• 4 to 7 years of experience in Automotive Procurement, Costing, Strategic Sourcing, Purchasing, or Commodity Buying.
• Strong experience in supplier management and vendor development.
• Hands-on expertise in RFQ management, Costing analysis, and Pricing negotiation.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and automotive product development processes.
• Experience working with Tier-1 & 2 automotive suppliers or OEMs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement activities for new product launches and automotive programs.
• Manage end-to-end sourcing for automotive components including: Seat Motors, Actuators, Motor Components, PCB/PCBA/ECU, Electronic Components, Precision Plastic Components / Metal / components.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with project timelines and cost targets.
• Conduct RFQ processes, supplier negotiations, and commercial evaluations.
• Drive cost optimization initiatives through value engineering and supplier development.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Supply Chain teams during product development.
• Support APQP activities and ensure supplier readiness for program milestones.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and long-term sourcing arrangements.
• Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, cost, and capacity.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic suppliers globally and locally.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, automotive standards, and customer requirements.
• Work On VAVE & VSM at Supplier End
