Job summary

GE Healthcare Bengaluru seeks an experienced Production Team Leader to guide day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. You will allocate resources, lead unionized shop floor teams, and drive continuous improvement across production processes.

You will partner with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and HR to resolve constraints, monitor KPIs, and foster a high-performance culture focused on inclusion and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, production management, industrial engineering, or a related manufacturing leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading shop floor operations and manufacturing teams in a unionized or industrial relations environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, resource allocation, and capacity management.
  • Experience monitoring manufacturing performance and driving improvements in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with functions such as Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Human Resources.
  • Working knowledge of applicable labor practices, collective bargaining agreements, employee relations, and workplace discipline processes.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost targets.
  • Execute production plans and effectively allocate people and resources to meet customer demand and production schedules.
  • Lead and support shop floor teams in a unionized environment while promoting positive employee relations, engagement, and collaboration.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable labor requirements, company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and workplace standards.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance using key metrics such as throughput, yield, OEE, cycle time, productivity, and on-time delivery.
  • Lead daily production reviews, Gemba walks, and structured problem-solving activities to identify and remove operational bottlenecks.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement activities to improve productivity, process performance, and waste reduction.
  • Ensure manufacturing operations comply with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), quality, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Human Resources teams to resolve production constraints and achieve business objectives.
  • Address production, quality, equipment, material, and workforce issues to minimize disruption and support customer commitments.
  • Develop shop floor capability through training, coaching, multi-skilling, performance management, and employee development.

  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting automation, digitization, or factory modernization initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop employees through coaching, training, and multi-skilling.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing quality systems, regulatory requirements, and EHS practices.
  • Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while balancing customer commitments and operational priorities.
