Job Description Summary

The Product Structuring, Requirements & Interfaces Structure Leader is a strategic SPB2 role focused on leading the transformation of Configuration Management and Systems Engineering practices for product structures. The role is accountable for standardization, requirements rationalization, interface definition, and plant system structuring across the product lifecycle.
This leader will functionally guide a team of senior and lead Configuration Management professionals and will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for engineering standards, requirements management in PLM, plant system structure consistency, and MBE alignment. The role requires deep systems engineering knowledge, strong leadership capability, and the ability to coach teams and drive cross-functional execution across complex technical domains.


Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities


  • Configuration Management and Standardization Strategy


  • Lead the Configuration Management standardization strategy for product structures across the organization.

  • Define and drive the future-state operating model for how engineering standards, requirements, and interfaces are structured and governed.

  • Ensure consistency and scalability of configuration practices across product lines and lifecycle stages.

  • Systems Engineering Transformation Leadership


  • Lead the Systems Engineering transformation of product structures in alignment with Systems Engineering 2030 principles.

  • Establish and mature the system structuring logic that connects product definition, requirements, interfaces, and plant-level execution.

  • Drive systems thinking behaviors within the Configuration Management community and across partner functions.

  • Functional Leadership of CM Team


  • Functionally lead a team of senior and lead Configuration Management professionals.

  • Provide coaching, direction, and development support to strengthen technical depth, leadership capability, and enterprise impact.

  • Set priorities, align work to business needs, and ensure effective execution across the team.

  • Requirements and Interface Structuring


  • Own the strategy and governance for requirements definition and rationalization at the system level in PLM.

  • Define and maintain the structure for interfaces across systems, product lines, and plant environments.

  • Ensure product requirements are logically structured, traceable, and aligned to engineering and manufacturing needs.

  • Plant Systems Structuring and MBE Consistency


  • Lead the alignment of plant system structures with product structures and engineering standards.

  • Ensure consistency between PLM, plant systems, and MBE models.

  • Drive clear rules and practices for maintaining structural integrity across digital environments.

  • Standards Management, Verification, and Audit


  • Develop and maintain the process for standards management, verification, quality measurement, and audit.

  • Establish objective measures to assess configuration quality, standards compliance, and process maturity.

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts based on audit findings, metrics, and business needs.

  • Cross-Functional Priority Execution


  • Demonstrate leadership in cross-functional priority execution across engineering, manufacturing, digital, and operational stakeholders.

  • Build alignment across functions to resolve dependencies and accelerate critical initiatives.

  • Serve as a trusted partner to ensure business priorities are translated into executable technical outcomes.

  • Technical Leadership and Decision Support


  • Act as a strategic resource for current system assessment, product structure rationalization, and requirements simplification.

  • Define characteristics of effective system structuring and support decisions to rationalize requirements by product line.

  • Provide guidance on complex configuration and systems engineering decisions with enterprise impact.


Required Qualifications


  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Configuration Management. Knowledge level is comparable to a Masters degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience)


Desired Characteristics


  • Significant experience in Systems Engineering, Configuration Management, Product Structuring, Project Engineering or related disciplines in a complex industrial environment.

  • Demonstrated direct or indirect people leadership experience, including coaching and development of technical professionals.

  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional priority execution in a matrixed organization.

  • Strong systems engineering background with experience in requirements, interfaces, product structure, and digital engineering practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead standardization or transformation initiatives across multiple technical domains.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.

  • Experience in complex engineered products, rotating equipment, or industrial manufacturing environments.

  • Deep understanding of Configuration Management, requirements engineering, system structuring, and model-based engineering.

  • Experience working with PLM, plant systems, and digital product structure governance.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain systems thinking within a technical organization.

  • Experience designing or implementing standards verification, quality measurement, and audit processes.

  • Strong ability to coach others and develop technical leadership capability.

  • Track record of driving product structure simplification and requirement rationalization.
