Job summary

Atlas Copco Group in Pune, India, seeks a Product Owner to drive the Digital Technology product team. You will bridge business needs and the Digital Delivery team, turning requirements into a clear product direction and guiding software that delivers real value.

You will lead and coach the team, align with global initiatives, promote Agile practices, and own the roadmap for platform upgrades, analytics, and service optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, CS, IT or related field; MBA is a plus.
• 10–14 years experience with at least 4 years as Product Owner/PM for digital or industrial software; 3+ years leading teams.
• Good understanding of compressors, service business and energy/performance optimization.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, Scrum and Kanban.
• Strong analytical and leadership skills; able to grow a product team.

Responsibilities

• Own the product vision, strategy and roadmap for the digital product.
• Translate business needs into epics, user stories and acceptance criteria for the delivery team.
• Lead backlog management and sprint planning with the delivery team.
• Drive platform upgrade, cloud architecture, data and integrations.

Join us as a Product Owner for our Digital Technology product team based in Pune. Working closely with the Compressor Technique Service business, you will own a digital product that helps optimize compressor performance, energy use and service operations, and lead the upgrade of its digital platform. Acting as the bridge between the business and the Digital Delivery team, you will understand business and customer needs, turn them into clear product direction, and guide the team to build software that creates real value. As the leader of the product team, you will also manage, coach and grow the people who make the product successful, and contribute to global initiatives across Atlas Copco.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Product Vision & Roadmap:Own the product vision,strategy and roadmap for the digital product,aligned with business goals and customer value.
• Business Understanding: Build a deep understanding of the Compressor Technique Service business,its customers,service processes and commercial model,and how the digital product supports service growth.
• Compressor Service & Optimization:Understand compressor and compressed air system operations and service offerings, and shape digital features that optimize equipment uptime, energy efficiency and maintenance planning.
• Optimization Use Cases:Identify and prioritize data-driven use cases such as energy savings,system optimization,service planning and parts usage,and turn them into measurable customer and business value.
• Digital Platform Upgrade: Drive the upgrade and modernization of the existing digital platform,including cloud architecture,data,integrations and user experience, while ensuring continuity for current users.
• Stakeholder Engagement:Engage with business owners,customers,service organizations and technical experts to gather requirements and align expectations.
• Requirement Analysis:Translate business needs into clear epics,user stories and acceptance criteria that the Digital Delivery team can act on.
• Backlog Management:Create,prioritize and maintain the product backlog,balancing new features,platform upgrade work,technical debt and quality.
• Input to Digital Delivery Team:Act as the voice of the business for the Digital Delivery team;give timely input,clarifications and decisions to developers, architects and testers throughout development.
• Sprint Planning & Reviews:Lead sprint planning and reviews,set clear objectives and accept delivered increments against agreed criteria.
• Release & Adoption:Plan releases and support rollout,training and change management to drive user adoption.
• Customer Feedback:Gather and analyse user and customer feedback to guide product improvements.
• Performance Metrics:Define and track product KPIs such as adoption,platform availability,energy and cost savings for customers,service efficiency and business impact.
• Agile Practices: Promote Agile ways of working and continuous improvement across the product and delivery teams.
• Communication:Communicate product status,priorities and decisions clearly to the team,management and stakeholders

To succeed, you will need

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

• Education:Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering,Computer Science,Information Technology or a related field. An MBA or business qualification is an advantage.
• Experience:Minimum 10–14 years of experience,including at least 4 years as a Product Owner/Product Manager for digital or industrial software products and at least 3 years of managing teams.
• Domain Knowledge:Good understanding of compressors and compressed air systems, the service business, and energy and performance optimization.
• Digital & Technical Expertise:Familiarity with software development,Industrial IoT,cloud technologies(especially Microsoft Azure),data platforms and analytics.
• Agile Methodologies:Strong experience with Agile methodologies,specifically Scrum and Kanban.
• Analytical Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Leadership & People Management:Proven ability to lead and grow a product team,manage performance,handle conflicts and build an engaged,high-performing culture.
• Communication Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills,with the ability to explain technical topics to business audiences and vice versa.

Required Skills

• Product Ownership Certification:CSPO,PSPO or equivalent(CSM is an advantage).
• People Management:Experience with line management,one-to-ones,performance reviews,coaching,conflict resolution and hiring.
• Compressor Technology & Optimization:Knowledge of compressor technology,compressed air system optimization and energy efficiency;experience in an industrial service business is an advantage.
• Industrial IoT:Understanding of connected equipment,remote monitoring,connectivity and data flows.
• Cloud Platforms:Knowledge of Microsoft Azure fundamentals and cloud-based SaaS products.
• Data & Analytics:Familiarity with dashboards/reporting(e.g.,Power BI) and analytics concepts.
• Platform Modernization:Experience with upgrading or migrating legacy applications to modern, scalable architectures(APIs, microservices).
• Tools: Hands-on experience with Jira,Confluence and/or Azure DevOps.
• Security & Compliance:Awareness of secure product development and data privacy for connected products
