Job summary

Deltek is seeking a visionary and highly tactical Product Manager for Shared Services. You will help build the building blocks—services, APIs, and common components powering Deltek’s ecosystem.

You will lead the shift from siloed feature development to a unified service architecture, owning technical definitions and delivery readiness across Product Management, UX, Engineering and Shared Services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Product Management, preferably SaaS/ERP.
• Experience with APIs, microservices, and platform thinking.
• Able to turn vague concepts into adopted services.
• Knowledge of project-based businesses (time tracking, resources, accounting).

About the Role

Deltek is seeking a visionary and highly tactical Product Manager for Shared Services. In this role, you will not build for a single end-user; instead, you will build the foundational "building blocks"—services, capabilities, APIs, and common components that power Deltek’s entire ecosystem of products.

You will lead the shift from siloed feature development to a unified service architecture. This requires a unique blend of strategic foresight to see commonalities across diverse products and the tactical grit to execute in an environment where requirements are often ambiguous and unrefined.

In this role, as a Technical product manager, you will own the technical definition, coherence, and delivery readiness of major product capabilities. You will operate at the intersection of Product Management, UX, Engineering, and Shared Services, ensuring that product intent becomes scalable, high-quality, technically sound software. This is a role for someone who loves diving into data models, integration patterns, architectural trade-offs, and system behaviour working together with engineering teams to drive momentum.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Evangelism: Act as the bridge between multiple product lines, identifying overlapping needs and distilling them into a single, high-leverage shared service strategy.
• Hypothesis-Driven Development: Navigate "the grey." You will start with unclear requirements and use rapid discovery, prototyping, and hypothesis testing to validate what "generally useful" looks like for Deltek.
• Strategic Abstraction: Design services (e.g., identity, billing, reporting, or workflow engines) that are robust enough for complex enterprise needs but flexible enough to be adopted by various product teams.
• Internal Stakeholder Management: Treat internal product teams as your "customers." You must balance their competing roadmaps and timelines to ensure adoption of shared services.
• Lifecycle Ownership: Define the roadmap, SLOs (Service Level Objectives), and documentation for shared components to ensure they are "developer-ready" and scalable.
• Architectural Strategy: Translate high-level business capabilities into technical blueprints, owning the strategy for data models, integration patterns, and third-party service alignment.
• System Coherence: Ensure technical consistency across workflows and shared services, partnering with Engineering and QE to define system behaviour, telemetry, and observability standards.
• Dependency Orchestration: Proactively identify and resolve technical blockers across product pods to ensure shared-service delivery never slows down the broader organization.
• Platform Innovation: Drive the adoption of AI-enabled workflows and automation tools to accelerate documentation, system modelling, and overall delivery velocity.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years in Product Management, preferably within SaaS, ERP, or Project-Based industries.
• Platform Thinking: Proven ability to think in terms of APIs, microservices, and "horizontal" capabilities rather than just "vertical" UI features.
• Ambiguity Tolerance: A track record of taking a vague concept and turning it into a functional, adopted service.
• Project-Based Expertise: Familiarity with the complexities of project-based businesses (e.g., time tracking, resource management, project accounting) is a massive plus.
• Communication: Exceptional ability to negotiate and influence technical architects and other Product Leaders to align on a shared vision.
• Very good understanding of integration patterns and distributed systems, paired with the tactical skill to translate ambiguous technical requirements into high-velocity roadmaps using modern, AI-enhanced development practices.
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements, ambiguity, and continuous delivery.
• A proactive, ownership-driven mindset—excited to lead, influence, and drive cross-functional execution.
