Job summary

3M Global Technology Center in Bengaluru/Bangalore is seeking a Sourcing Specialist to drive procurement strategy across multiple businesses. The role is based in India with hybrid work at the Global Capability Centre (GCC) and involves leading supplier selection, cost reduction, and complex contract negotiations.

Ideal candidate will have 8–10 years in Sourcing/Procurement, a metallurgy/mechanical engineering background, and strong negotiation with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/ technology (Metallurgy/ Mechanical preferred) from an accredited institution.
• 8 - 10 years of Sourcing, Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering and/or Manufacturing experience.
• Experience in Sourcing with outsourced manufacturing suppliers in metal casting, machining and stamping.

Responsibilities

• Own procurement category strategy across 3M businesses and divisions, supporting outsourced manufacturing, NPI launches, sourcing policies, negotiations, and cost/working capital goals.
• Lead supplier selection and relationship management, drive cost reduction and should-cost modelling, and manage mid-spend suppliers with the Global Metals Category team.
• Lead and implement sourcing strategies for dual-sourcing, negotiations, supplier management, category strategy, and external supply solutions.
• Drive process improvements, stakeholder partnerships, category risk reduction, and SAP-enabled sourcing support.
• Lead contract negotiations with suppliers in collaboration with 3M stakeholders and Legal, implementing complex agreements such as SMI, consigned materials, and formula-based pricing.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires, at a minimum, the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/ technology (Metallurgy/ Mechanical preferred) or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

• 8 - 10 years of Sourcing, Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering and/or Manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

• Experience in Sourcing, especially with outsourced manufacturing suppliers in metal casting, machining and stamping.

Additional Qualifications That Could Help You Succeed Even Further in This Role

• Strong negotiator and detail-oriented self-starter with proactive project management skills, financial acumen, business analytics capability, and strong written/oral communication.

• Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels on complex projects; Chinese, German, or Japanese language skills are an added advantage.
