Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Product Accounting professional in Bengaluru to support revenue accounting for Payments and Payment Products. You will apply US GAAP (ASC 606) to identify implications, advise cross-functional partners, and develop scalable processes that help Stripe scale globally.

You will work with product, engineering, and Finance teams to capture transactions accurately and automate monthly closes, contributing to financial reporting and audits with strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification and 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Bachelors in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience with monthly/quarterly closes, journals, audits, and regulatory reporting.
• Knowledge of US GAAP including ASC 606 and internal controls.
• Ability to structure ambiguous work, use Excel, and automate processes.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable accounting processes to support global growth in payment processing accounting.
• Partner with product, go-to-market, and Finance teams to understand new products and contracts.
• Collaborate with Systems and Engineering to improve financial systems and automate accounting processes.

• Plan and perform monthly and quarterly closes with journal entries and reconciliations.

About the team

The Product Accounting team at Stripe supports products across Stripe by providing guidance on accounting implications and enabling teams to make informed strategic decisions. The team records business transactions accurately and on time in the balance sheet and income statement, and partners with cross-functional and international teams in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll do

You’ll join the Product Accounting team to support revenue accounting for Payments and Payment Products. You’ll use your technical expertise in US GAAP, including ASC 606, to identify accounting implications and customer impacts, advise cross-functional partners, and develop operating processes that help Stripe scale.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable accounting processes to support global growth in payment processing accounting
• Partner with product, go-to-market, and Finance teams to understand new products, features, and contracts
• Partner with Systems and Engineering teams to improve financial systems and automate accounting processes
• Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and design processes and controls for emerging business activities
• Develop and maintain current accounting procedure documentation
• Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance-sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, financial reporting deliverables, and reviews
• Produce management analyses and reporting, and support external audit processes

Minimum requirements

• Professional accountancy qualification, such as CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, and 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Experience with monthly or quarterly close processes, journal-entry preparation and posting, audits, regulatory reporting, financial-statement preparation, and accounting systems
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606, and experience with internal controls
• Ability to structure ambiguous work, solve problems using Excel, build systems and automation, collaborate across functions and cultures, and adapt to changing requirements

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in the technology or payments industry
• Experience with Oracle Suite
• Experience with data-querying and analysis tools, including SQL
• Experience with data-analysis tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, KNIME, Python, or Alteryx
