Role Title: Pro Vice-Chancellor (Liberal Studies)

Location: Bengaluru North, Karnataka, India

About the University A leading NAAC 'A' Grade private university dedicated to nurturing creative thinkers through a multidisciplinary approach.

Role Overview: The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Liberal Studies) will serve as the academic and administrative head for all liberal studies programs and schools within the university. This senior leadership role requires a strategic visionary to oversee and unify diverse disciplines, ensuring they align with the universitys multidisciplinary philosophy and global academic standards. The incumbent will be responsible for the strategic growth and quality assurance of Social Sciences, Humanities, and allied programs.

Key Qualifications (Mandatory) Candidates must possess a consistent academic record with the following specific qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate (Ph.D.) specifically in Pure Liberal Studies disciplines.
  • Accepted Disciplines: Psychology (Clinical, HRDM, Counselling, or Science), Master of Social Work (MSW), Mass Communication and Journalism, Journalism, Political Science, Sociology, History or Media Studies.
  • Specific Exclusions: Candidates with a Master's or Doctorate in Language, Law, Economics, or Management are not preferred and will not be considered for this specific role.

Required Experience To ensure subject-matter expertise and leadership maturity, candidates must meet the following strict experience criteria:

  • Post-Masters Experience: A minimum of 18 years of experience after the completion of a relevant Master's degree.
  • Post-Doctoral Experience: A minimum of 12 years of experience specifically after the award of the Ph.D.
  • Senior Leadership: At least 2 years of experience working at a senior academic leadership level (e.g., Dean, Director, or Head of Institution) in a university or a reputed autonomous college/institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide academic and administrative leadership for all liberal studies schools and programs, driving the vision for the School of Liberal Studies and related interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Academic Governance: Oversee the development and implementation of credit-based systems (CBCS) and industry-aligned curricula across all liberal studies disciplines.
  • Research & Innovation: Foster a strong research culture, guiding faculty and doctoral scholars in areas such as Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, and Mass Communication.
  • Faculty Management: Mentor Deans and faculty members across different schools, ensuring high standards of teaching and continuous professional development.
  • Student Success: Ensure the holistic development of students by integrating "Maker-Centered Learning" and Design Thinking into liberal studies curricula to solve real-world problems.

Age Criteria

  • The candidate should be in the age group of 50 to 64 years.
  • Preference will be given to candidates below 60 years of age.
