Job description

Job Title: PCB and Hardware Design Engineer

About Rekise Marine

Rekise Marine is building autonomous ships and submarines that operate in the world’s most hostile environments. We’re executing India’s flagship autonomous submarine project the Jalkapi XLAUV, on order from the Indian Navy. This is an unmanned submarine weighing over 20 tons that can travel 5,000+ kilometers autonomously and operate in the ocean for 30+ days at a time.

We’re creating some of the largest autonomous robots in the world, machines with direct impact on the global economy and national security. While autonomous cars in India may still be a dream, autonomous ships and submarines are already a reality, and it is possible to build for the world from India.

The Role

We're seeking a PCB Layout & Hardware Design Engineer to develop the electronic systems of our autonomous submarines. You'll design complex multi‑layer PCBs for submarine control systems, high‑speed communication interfaces, precision sensor circuits, and robust power systems that operate reliably at 300 m depth. This role requires mastery of high‑speed digital design, analog interfaces, and power electronics while ensuring compliance with defense and marine safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design 6–10+ layer PCBs with high‑speed interfaces (PCI Express, MIPI, 10 GHz Ethernet), perform impedance control, differential routing, length matching, and conduct SI/PI analysis and optimization.
  • Design precision analog paths for LVDT, pressure, and acoustic sensors, implementing low‑noise techniques, filtering, shielding, and proper grounding. Select ADCs and signal‑conditioning components for underwater applications.
  • Develop DC‑DC converters using GaN/SiC devices for submarine power distribution, design isolated topologies for battery‑powered 30+ day missions, and perform thermal analysis and component derating.
  • Implement comprehensive protection (OVP, OCP, surge, ESD), ensure MIL‑STD‑461, CE, UL, IEC marine standards compliance, and design isolation barriers for pressure‑hull penetrations.
  • Interface with the mechanical team on form factors and thermal solutions, support prototype bring‑up, debugging, and environmental validation, and collaborate on INS, sonar, and communication system integration.
  • Prepare schematics, Gerbers, 3‑D models, assembly documentation, optimize for DFM/DFA with fabrication partners, and maintain configuration management for defense requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • B.E./B.Tech in Electronics/Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • 6–10 years PCB layout and hardware design experience with complex boards.
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, or similar tools.
  • Signal‑integrity knowledge: impedance control, differential signaling, EMI mitigation.
  • Analog/mixed‑signal design with low‑noise techniques and grounding strategies.
  • Power electronics experience: DC‑DC converters, power distribution, thermal management.
  • Knowledge of safety/EMC standards: CE, UL, IEC, testing procedures.
  • Lab equipment proficiency: oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, VNA, logic analyzer.
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills with systematic root‑cause analysis.
Preferred Experience
  • Marine/submarine/underwater electronics experience with environmental hardening.
  • Military standards knowledge (MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461).
  • HDI PCB, blind/buried vias, rigid‑flex design capability.
  • Battery management and power systems for autonomous platforms.
  • Conformal coating and potting for marine protection.
  • IPC standards and DFM/DFA principles.
Why Join Rekise Marine
  • Technical Challenge: Design submarine electronics for 300 m depth, 30+ days operation – a rare opportunity in India.
  • Mission Impact: P
  • Advanced Technology: Work with military‑grade components, GaN/SiC devices, latest design tools.
  • Growth Path: Clear trajectory to lead electronics architecture for future platforms.
  • Competitive Package: Market‑leading compensation.
