HG Insights is seeking a Principal UX Designer to serve as Head of UX, owning the user experience from concept to delivery. You will be the primary voice for UX across the product organization, balancing hands-on execution with strategic ownership while translating user needs and business goals into effective design solutions.

You’ll lead end-to-end UX, conduct research and usability tests, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define strategy and features.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 10+ years UX design experience with 5+ years in senior/principal role.
• Proven portfolio in user research, interaction, and visual design.
• Ability to operate as a design team of one while influencing across product org.

About the Role

We're seeking a passionate and experienced Principal UX Designer to serve as our Head of UX, owning the user experience design process from concept to delivery. The ideal candidate is a strong advocate for the user, with a track record of creating intuitive, accessible, and engaging digital experiences - and is comfortable operating as a design team of one, balancing hands-on execution with strategic ownership. You'll be the primary voice for UX across the product organization, translating user needs and business goals into effective design solutions.

What you’ll do

• Own the end-to-end UX design process, from initial research and ideation through wireframing, prototyping, and final implementation.
• Conduct and lead user research and usability testing to deeply understand user behavior, needs, and pain points. Synthesize findings into actionable design insights.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define product strategy, requirements, and features.
• Create and maintain design deliverables such as user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using industry-standard tools.
• Champion user-centered design principles and best practices across the organization, ensuring design decisions are data-informed and user-validated.
• Own and maintain the design system to ensure consistency and scalability across products.
• Manage external design contractors or agencies as needed to supplement capacity.
• Set the design function's standards and processes — critique cadence, research practices, tooling — even as a team of one, so they can scale as the team grows.

What we are looking for

• 10+ years of professional experience in a UX design role, with at least 5 years in a senior or principal capacity.
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates expertise in user research, interaction design, and visual design.
• Proven ability to operate as a design team of one — balancing strategic ownership with hands-on execution, and managing competing stakeholder priorities without a team to delegate to.
• Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Sketch; familiarity with AI-assisted design/prototyping tools is a plus.
• Proven experience leading user research methodologies (e.g., interviews, surveys, usability tests) and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment is highly desirable.
• A bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with GTM Intelligence and data platforms is a strong plus.
• Significant overlap with US business hours is required.
