Job summary

Atlassian is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for full stack/AI in Bengaluru with remote-friendly options across India. You will design and deliver large-scale frontend features, lead technical initiatives, and mentor engineers as part of a distributed-first R&D team working on Jira, Confluence, Trello, and Bitbucket.

You will partner with product, design, and backend teams to drive AI-enabled experiences and scalable UI systems, ensuring high quality and long-term reliability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building large-scale frontend applications.
• Experience with Javascript (ES6), HTML5, CSS and modern frameworks.
• Experience with AI-first products and AI in product development.
• Experience designing/architecting platforms at scale.
• Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Mocha, Chai).
• Experience in Agile software development.
• Mentoring junior engineers.
• System mindset with observability and integration across external systems.
• Ability to write code that lasts for years.

Qualifications

• Understanding of modern frontend ecosystem, including bundling, linting, testing and releasing.


• Experience with Javascript (ES6), HTML5, CSS and experience with modern Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, AngularJS, Vue).


• Understanding industry trends and experience building AI first products along with using AI effectively in all aspects of product development.


• Experience designing/architecting platforms at scale.


• System mindset that considers edge cases, observability, error handling, and integration across external systems.


• Experience debugging problems across systems/repositories and designing solutions that span the whole stack.


• Experience with modern testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Mocha, Chai).


• Experience in Agile software development methodologies.


• You aim to write code that lasts for years, not months.


• Experience engineering software systems of medium-to-large scope and complexity.


• Experience mentoring more junior engineers.
