Job summary

Renesas is seeking a Principal Product Engineer to own end-to-end product lifecycle from concept and first silicon through qualification, release, and volume production support. You will lead cross‑functional teams and drive yield, quality, and schedule, with deep experience in semiconductor product engineering and NPI.

You will coordinate with Design, Manufacturing, and OSAT partners, manage BOMs and PLM data, and ensure compliance with JEDEC/AEC standards while delivering robust product

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electronic or industrial engineering is required.
• 15+ years of semiconductor experience across product engineering, NPI, manufacturing and test.
• Experience with wafer fabrication, assembly, test, qualification and production release flows.
• Familiarity with JEDEC/AEC qualification standards and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own the assigned product lifecycle from concept through production release and end of life.
• Lead first-silicon bring-up and debug with Design, Test, and Applications teams.
• Plan characterization across voltage, temperature and process; set production guard-bands.
• Create and maintain product BOMs and lifecycle data in PLM systems.
• Coordinate with planning, manufacturing and suppliers to remove schedule gaps.
• Lead qualification planning and execution per JEDEC/AEC requirements.
• Prepare release documentation and compliance reports; monitor yield and quality.
• Drive yield improvement and optimize test time and disposition limits.

Job Description

IFI organization is seeking a Principal Product Engineer to provide end-to-end ownership from engineering material planning through qualification, characterization, product release and volume‑production support. In this role, the principal product engineer acts as the lead within the project and owns the characterization, qualification plan, production release, and industrial activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the assigned product lifecycle from concept and first silicon through qualification, production release, sustaining and end of life.
• Drive first‑silicon bring‑up and debug with Design, Test, Applications teams.
• Plan and coordinate voltage, temperature and process characterization, including production limit setting and guard‑banding.
• Create and maintain product BOMs and product lifecycle data in PLM systems such as Agile.
• Work with planning, manufacturing, subcontractors and operations teams to remove material‑flow obstacles and recover schedule gaps.
• Own qualification planning and execution in accordance with applicable JEDEC and AEC requirements.
• Prepare product‑release documentation, datasheet compliance evidence and automotive compliance reports as applicable.
• Monitor production data and use statistical analysis to identify and correct yield, quality and test‑time deficiencies.Drive yield improvement
• Optimize PAT, SYL, SBL, SPC and disposition limits to protect outgoing quality
• Support fab transfer and BOM change activities
• Support customer‑return and RMA investigations by reproducing failures and assessing production test coverage.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical direction, sign off reviews
• Lead technical decisions and risk resolution across Design, Product Engineering, Operations, suppliers and OSAT teams including DFX topics
• Fully independent and recognized as subject‑matter‑expert
• Influence cross‑functional teams without direct authority and communicate clearly to the stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering or industrial engineering
• At least 15 years of relevant semiconductor experience spanning product engineering, NPI, manufacturing, test
• Practical understanding of semiconductor wafer fabrication, assembly, test, qualification and production‑release flows.
• Experience managing engineering wafer starts, prototype builds, customer samples, inventory and product BOMs.
• Working knowledge of SoC and mixed‑signal device testing, common circuit building blocks, device behaviour and semiconductor test methodology.
• Familiarity with ATE platforms such as Teradyne J750 or Advantest V93000, and with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies and digital multimeters.
• Familiarity with JEDEC/AEC qualification standards, qualification hardware/software and semiconductor failure analysis.
• Experience with PLM and yield‑management tools such as Agile, PDF Exensio or JMP.
• Experience working with external foundries, OSATs, subcontractors and globally distributed product teams.
• Experience with failure analysis methods
• Experience using data and statistical methods to manage yield, quality, cycle time and operational priorities.
• Strong analytical, planning, coordination and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work under schedule pressure.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams without direct authority.
