Role Overview

Lead Data Scientist is a leadership role in the AI services team at Fractal.ai, responsible for client delivery, business development, and people leadership. The position requires managing end-to-end AI solutions in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI solution design, execution, and client and team management for given client projects.
• Guide project teams through solution development, validation, deployment, and monitoring, ensuring deliverable quality and timeliness.
• Resolve internal and client impediments, ensuring alignment on key technical aspects of AI solutions.
• Partner with Sales teams during new business and renewal conversations to secure new and incremental business.
• Manage the reporting team of data scientists and senior data scientists, providing career guidance, addressing concerns, and maintaining high utilization in client projects.
• Provide regular updates to the executive team on client projects, including status, risks, and technical resolutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, MLOps, DevOps, and other functional teams to integrate AI solutions into client production systems.
• Work with internal and client stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into AI solutions.
• Optimize code and models using best‑in‑class machine learning and deep‑learning techniques.
• Lead the process of cleaning, preprocessing, and transforming raw datasets to ensure quality and suitability for model training.
• Implement best practices throughout the design and execution of AI solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 11‑15 years of experience in AI and machine learning.
• Strong proficiency in Python, PySpark, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms, and their execution.
• Experience with generative AI concepts is a plus.
• Proven experience leading data science projects.
• Proven experience in new or renewal business development.
• Proven experience in client and internal team management.
• Hands‑on experience with model training, hyperparameter tuning, and deployment.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and teamwork skills.
