Arcadis is recruiting for a Senior Engineer-Instrumentation, UK Water, to lead ICA design across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Noida and Hyderabad for UK projects.

You will guide design phases, review documentation, and coordinate with Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Process Engineers to deliver integrated solutions while adhering to international standards and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • BE/M.E./M.Tech from a recognized University.
  • 10–12 years’ experience in ICA design for Water/Industrial projects.
  • Familiar with British and International standards; professional accreditation desirable.
  • Knowledge of UK design standards, explosive atmospheres (DSEAR) and safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design phases (concept, outline, detail) for ICA systems and ensure compliance with asset standards.
  • Review ICA documentation and vendor drawings; guide quality and design decisions.
  • Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Process Engineers for integrated solutions.
  • Provide technical direction and support to global project teams on water/wastewater projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Arcadis’ Health & Safety standards and client requirements.

Role description:

We are now recruiting talented individuals in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Noida & Hyderabad to fill our current vacancy for Senior Engineer-Instrumentation, UK Water, to work on our projects in UK.


Role accountabilities:


  1. Design & Engineering:

    • Lead the design phases (concept, outline, and detail) for Instrumentation Control Automation systems, adhering to international standards.

    • Sound knowledge of ICA design (instrumentation, PLC and SCADA systems), motor control systems (MCC’s), system architecture, fieldbus/communication networks, P&ID’s, ATEX installation practice, functional safety, development of control specifications (URS/FDS), schedules and system requirements within process/industrial environment.

    • Development of Design Basis, specifications, P & ID’s, System/Network Architecture, Fieldbus/communication networks, Control philosophy, Functional Design Specifications, PLC/ICA Section General Arrangements, Wiring and Schematic Diagrams, I/O schedules, Loop Diagrams, Instrument schedules and datasheets.

    • Review and provide constructive comment on various ICA documentation including, Control Philosophies, Functional Design Specifications, I/O schedules, instrument schedules, communications architecture drawings and MCC/RTU/PLC electrical schematics and General Arrangements, ensuring they satisfy plant design criteria and comply with asset standard requirements

    • Understand requirements in relation to installations relating to DSEAR and ICA equipment in explosive atmospheres.

    • Knowledge on inspection, testing and commissioning stages relevant to ICA equipment and installations.

    • Have an understanding of electrical infrastructure design and their integration with the ICA system

    • Conduct instrument sizing calculations.

    • Review vendor drawings for instrumentation systems.

    • Use practical knowledge to design Equipment Layouts and trench/tray layouts, guiding technicians and ensuring quality.

    • Support global teams in delivering water/wastewater projects.

    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Process Engineers, to ensure integrated design solutions.

    • Prepare and review of specifications, data sheets and technical documentation.

    • Provide technical direction in project delivery, ensuring alignment with industry standards and client requirements.

    • Maintain compliance with Arcadis’ Business Management System and Health & Safety standards.

    • Offer alternative solutions and guide the juniors technical decision-making processes.

    • Knowledge on current UK design standards, working practices and national guidance.

    • Ensuring contractors designs comply with the latest client specifications and other relevant industry specifications (Wimes, IET wiring regulations etc.) and legislations.

    • Awareness of best practise and standards in cybersecurity for industrial automation and control systems.



  2. Team Collaboration:

    • Mentor junior team members, fostering professional growth and effective task delegation.

    • Engage in global activities, leading collaborative efforts and enhancing team capabilities.



  3. Client Engagement:

    • Manage technical client relationships and support project pursuits.

    • Align with Arcadis’ digital strategies and contribute to digital transformation initiatives.



  4. Software & Tools:

    • Experience with AutoCAD, AutoDesk, Plant 3D & Revit is advantageous.

    • Basic knowledge of BIM/ACC tools

    • Good knowledge of Microsoft office.




Qualifications & Experience:


  • • B.E./ M.E. / M. Tech from a recognized University.

  • • 10 - 12 years’ experience.

  • * Relevant experience in ICA design in a consultancy organisation for Water Sector.

  • * Familiar with British and other International standards and practices.

  • * Registered or accredited professional, preferably CEng/IEng or chartered/ incorporated member of similar standing relevant professional organization or pursuing to achieve.

  • * A strong, self-motivated and assertive person capable of working under pressure.

  • * Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • * Flexible to adopt to new work /challenge work as per business requirement.
