Job summary

Empower India in Bengaluru seeks a Principal Software Engineer to shape our CRM platform and drive technical excellence. You will architect and implement scalable features, own major engineering projects, and guide delivery from design to deployment.

As an individual contributor, you will mentor peers, strengthen CI/CD and security practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the globe to deliver customer value.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with Salesforce Sales/Service/Industry Clouds.
• Strong OOP and at least one language (Java or Python).
• Working knowledge of AWS services and cloud deployments.
• Familiarity with modern monitoring (Splunk, DataDog).
• Experience designing scalable enterprise solutions.

Principal Software Engineer, CRM

A Principal Software Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for architecting and implementing complex software solutions, driving technical excellence, and providing guidance on major engineering projects. They play a crucial role in shaping the technical roadmap and strategy of the organization. A Principal Software Engineer is an individual contributor focusing on the significant engineering ownership of complex applications including design and development of new features, improvements to existing code, code release and deployment and maintenance of the applications.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, test, and support scalable, resilient software aligned with Empower’s business and architectural strategies.
• Develop and enhance complex applications, introducing new features and improving existing systems for performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Partner with other developers and architects to evolve our codebase, tools, and development processes.
• Provide technical leadership to the team in design finalization, code reviews, and resolving production support and maintenance issues.
• Contribute to and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines, improving delivery efficiency and reliability.
• Write automated and unit/functional tests and follow modern engineering practices to ensure code quality and maintain high test coverage.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues with speed and precision.
• Apply Empower’s security controls and disaster recovery principles in all design and implementation efforts.
• Drive application resiliency through thoughtful design and robust engineering.
• Create prototypes and proof-of concepts that inspire innovation and shape future technical direction.
• Design pragmatic, scalable solutions with clear trade-offs and articulate them effectively to stakeholders.
• Produce clear, detailed design documentation to support implementation and estimation.
• Contribute to long‑term architectural vision emphasizing simplicity, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional, geographically distributed teams to deliver customer value.
• Model and promote best practices across coding standards, architecture, and process - coaching and mentoring peers and junior engineers.
• Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
• Lead design and implementation of critical software components and systems.
• Perform other duties as needed.

What You’ll Bring

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years or professional experience developing solutions in Salesforce Sales, Service, or Industry Clouds (e.g., Financial Services, Health, Manufacturing).
• Strong grasp of object‑oriented programming principles and expertise with at least one OOP language (Java, Python, etc.).
• Working knowledge of AWS Cloud and different services like Lambda, EC2, API Gateway, CloudWatch, etc.
• Familiarity with Splunk and DataDog APM
• Have designed, developed, and maintained a complex software solution involving multiple stakeholders.
• Proven experience in designing critical applications that interact with several other systems internally and externally.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative delivery.
• Continuous learning mindset with a passion for staying current with emerging technologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills - able to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
• Experience deploying updates, diagnosing production issues, and implementing integrations that meet customer needs.

What Will Set You Apart

• 2+ years of Salesforce Omni studio or Financial Services Cloud experience.
• 6+ years of hands‑on OOP development experience with modern frameworks and tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Architecture Level certifications.
• Practical experience designing and building scalable solutions for complex enterprise systems and business challenges.
• Strong knowledge of modern integration methods.
