Job summary

Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, seeks a Principal Engineer to design, develop and validate safety-critical avionics software for next-generation aerospace platforms in Bengaluru.

You will lead SDLC activities, translate requirements, ensure DO-178 compliance, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Systems, V&V, Certification and Program Management to drive technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related STEM discipline.
• 12+ years of embedded software development experience in aerospace or safety-critical industries.
• 8+ years of aerospace software certification knowledge: DO-178, ARP4754A.
• 6+ years of avionics communication protocols: ARINC 429, AFDX, ARINC 653, ARINC 615A.
• 8+ years of software lifecycle processes, requirements engineering, and verification methodologies.
• 7+ years of deriving software requirements from system-level requirements.
• 8+ years of defining software verification and validation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development across the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

What You'll Do

As a Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and validation of safety-critical avionics software for next-generation aerospace platforms.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related STEM discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably within the aerospace or other safety-critical industries.
• 8+ Years of Strong knowledge of aerospace software certification standards: DO-178, ARP4754A
• 6+ Years of Solid understanding of avionics communication protocols: ARINC 429, AFDX, ARINC 653, ARINC 615A
• 8+ Years of Strong expertise in software lifecycle processes, requirements engineering, and verification methodologies.
• 7+ Years of Experience deriving software requirements from customer and system-level requirements.
• 8+ Years of Proven experience defining software verification and validation strategies.

  Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ Years of Hands-on embedded software development experience using C++.
  • Programming experience in embedded systems and scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of Flight Management Systems (FMS).
  • Exposure to aerospace certification and regulatory compliance processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills.
