Job summary

AECOM is seeking a senior HVAC design engineer with 12-15 years of experience in a consulting environment to lead design packages for healthcare, data centers, and mission-critical facilities. The role involves load calculations, system sizing, and coordination across disciplines, with exposure to BIM workflows and international projects.

The candidate should have strong technical and mentoring abilities and be capable of leading design teams from Concept through Detailed Design and Construction

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
• 12–15 years of HVAC design engineering experience in a consulting environment.
• Min 6–7 years in Global Design Center delivering international projects.

• Perform HVAC load calculations, system sizing and equipment selection.
• Design HVAC systems for healthcare, commercial and mission-critical facilities.
• Lead HVAC design packages and provide technical oversight on complex projects.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• HVAC load calculations using Carrier HAP (Must Have).
• HVAC system design including: Airside systems Chilled water systems Ventilation systems Smoke control and pressurization systems
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and international codes .
• Knowledge of Navis Works, Revizto
• Exposure of Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
• Preparation and review of calculations, specifications, reports, and construction drawings.
• Experience in Data Center and/or Healthcare projects.
• Knowledge of IES-VE for energy modeling and building performance analysis.
• Exposure to LEED, Green Mark, WELL, or similar sustainability frameworks.
• Experience with BIM coordination and Navisworks.
• HVAC design experience in a Consulting/GDC environment (at least 4-5 years for overseas projects experience).
• Perform HVAC load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection.
• Design HVAC systems for healthcare, commercial, and mission-critical facilities.
• Develop design calculations, reports, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection disciplines.
• Lead HVAC design packages and support project delivery.
• Review and guide junior engineers and BIM modelers.
• Ensure design quality, code compliance, and on-time project delivery.
• Strong design experience from Concept to Detailed Design stages.

Qualifications and Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
• 12-15 years of experience in HVAC design engineering within a consulting environment.
• Minimum 6-7 years of experience working in a Global Design Center (GDC) delivering international projects.
• Proven experience in Data Center and/or Healthcare facility design is highly preferred.
• Proficient in Carrier HAP for cooling and heating load calculations (mandatory).
• Working knowledge of IES-VE for energy modeling and building performance analysis
• Strong expertise in: Chilled water plants and distribution systems Airside HVAC systems Critical cooling systems (CRAH/CRAC) Ventilation, pressurization, and smoke management systems Energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC solutions
• Thorough understanding of ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IMC, and other international design codes and standards.
• Knowledge of Revit MEP, AutoCAD, BIM workflows, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience in HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, design reports, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
• Ability to independently lead HVAC design packages and provide technical oversight on complex projects.
• Experience managing design quality, technical reviews, client interactions, and project delivery.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities for developing engineering teams.
• Proven track record of delivering projects from Concept Design through Detailed Design and Construction Support.
