Job summary

ixigo, the technology company behind the ixigo platform, seeks a Principal Engineer with a strong product background to drive design, planning, development and deployment of scalable software. You will own modules end to end and collaborate with tech, design and quality teams to build and launch products.

You will code, architect, and maintain features across the existing application, ensuring performance and stability and driving best practices for future development.

Qualifications

• 5-6 years of experience.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering, preferably from IITs/Top RECs.
• Expertise in Java/J2EE technology.
• Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with e-business/e-commerce applications.
• Nice to have exposure to internet companies or travel industry.
• Knowledge of design patterns and performance, scalability, and availability considerations.
• Familiarity with memory management and multithreaded programming.
• Nice to have Python, NodeJS, Redis, ElasticSearch.

Job Description

As a Principal Engineer (strong Product background), you will play a critical role in the design, planning, development, and deployment of software applications. You will be responsible for all aspects of development and help develop best practices for future development. You will work closely with Tech, Design and Quality teams to build and launch the product.

You will code, develop, design and architect features related to the existing application.

We expect you to own modules end to end and take pride in the work products you ship.

You will design, implement and maintain highly scalable, multi-tier, distributed server software applications.

You will deliver across the entire app life cycle, including design, build, deploy, test, release to app stores and support.

You will work directly with developers and product managers to conceptualize, build, test and release products.

You will take responsibility for performance and stability for all server functions.

You will continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

Qualifications

5-6 years of experience.

You should have at least an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, preferably from IITs/Top RECs.

You should have expertise in Java/J2EE technology.

You should have proficiency in the implementation of algorithms and the use of advanced data structures to solve problems in computing.

You should have experience with e-business/e-commerce applications and business environments.

Any experience with internet companies or the travel industry will be a plus.

You should have a good understanding of Java/J2EE and design patterns.

You should have strong knowledge of data structures and designing for performance, scalability and availability.

You should have expertise in relational databases like MySQL or Postgres.

You should have knowledge in MongoDB and Web services.

You should have extensive use of Instruments and Shark to detect memory leaks and for performance optimization.

You should have a good grasp of algorithms, memory management, and multithreaded programming.

Good to have skills include Python, NodeJS, Redis, ElasticSearch.

You should have great people skills!

You should be able to fit in well within an informal startup environment and provide hands‑on management.

You should have a high energy level and untiring commitment to drive oneself & the team towards goals.
