Job summary

TE Connectivity seeks a Principal Data Scientist to shape AI strategy and drive enterprise adoption across engineering, manufacturing and operations. You will mentor teams and translate research into scalable business solutions, influencing technology roadmaps and governance.

You will lead architectural reviews, develop scalable AI systems, and stay at the forefront of evolving AI paradigms such as LLMs, RAG, AI Agents, and neuro-symbolic approaches, delivering measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• PhD/Masters/BE in CS/AI or related field with strong research background.

The AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE), part of the TE Information Solutions (TEIS) organization, builds enterprise AI capabilities that accelerate engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, and enterprise operations.

The Principal Data Scientist is a senior technical leader responsible for shaping TE's AI strategy and driving the adoption of advanced AI technologies across the enterprise. This role combines deep expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning with a passion for exploring emerging AI paradigms, mentoring technical teams, and translating innovation into measurable business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

AI Strategy & Technical Leadership

• Define technical direction, architecture, and best practices for enterprise AI initiatives.
• Partner with business and engineering leaders to identify high-impact AI opportunities.
• Influence AI strategy, technology roadmap, and enterprise AI adoption.
• Continuously explore, prototype, evaluate, and recommend emerging AI technologies.
• Provide technical guidance on approaches such as Agentic AI, Causal AI, Neuro-symbolic AI, World Models, Foundation Models, and other evolving AI paradigms.
• Distinguish meaningful innovation from hype and translate research into practical enterprise solutions.

AI Solution Development

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and intelligent automation solutions.
• Lead development of production AI systems including predictive models, NLP, Computer Vision, RAG, AI Agents, optimization, and enterprise AI platforms.
• Establish best practices for model development, deployment, evaluation, governance, and Responsible AI.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor Data Scientists and AI Engineers while fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical design, and AI engineering standards.
• Stay at the forefront of AI advancements and help grow TE's AI capabilities.

Candidate Desired Profile:

Education & Experience

• BE, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related field.
• 12+ years of experience in AI, Machine Learning, or Data Science with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale AI solutions and measurable business impact.

Technical Expertise

• Strong expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, Optimization, and Generative AI.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, AI Agents, modern AI frameworks, and cloud AI platforms.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with modern AI/ML frameworks.
• Experience with MLOps/LLMOps, cloud platforms, and scalable AI architectures.

Emerging AI

• Passion for continuously learning, evaluating, and prototyping emerging AI technologies.
• Understanding of evolving AI paradigms such as Agentic AI, Causal AI, Neuro-symbolic AI, World Models, AI reasoning, and future AI architectures.
• Ability to communicate the applicability, strengths, and limitations of emerging AI technologies to both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Publications, patents, or open-source contributions in AI/ML.
• Experience building enterprise AI platforms and reusable AI frameworks.
