Job summary

Bounteous is seeking an experienced Principal Architect to lead architecture execution for large-scale engineering programs. You will translate solution architecture into scalable designs, govern decisions, and enable delivery across multiple teams.

Role requires 13+ years in software engineering and 8+ years in architecture leadership, with strong cloud, API, and microservices expertise. You will mentor engineers and drive DevOps, CI/CD, and engineering excellence across the organization.

Qualifications

• 13+ years of software engineering experience.
• 8+ years in Principal Architect, Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or similar leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in Software Architecture, System Design, Distributed Systems, APIs, Microservices, Integration Architecture, and Cloud Platforms.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent solutions.

Responsibilities

• Translate solution architecture into implementation-ready technical designs.
• Drive architecture governance, design reviews, coding standards, and integration best practices.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and workstreams.
• Establish and enforce scalable architecture, security, performance, and reliability standards.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and engineering teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Drive DevOps, CI/CD, release management, and engineering excellence practices.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and validation.
• Mentor architects and senior engineers while serving as a technical escalation point.

Required Skills & Experience

• 13+ years of overall software engineering experience.
• 8+ years in Principal Architect, Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or similar architecture leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in Software Architecture, System Design, Distributed Systems, APIs, Microservices, Integration Architecture, and Cloud Platforms.
• Experience leading architecture and technical direction across multiple teams or programs.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, engineering governance, and architecture review processes.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred

• TOGAF or Cloud Architecture certifications.
• Experience in Healthcare, Pharma, or other regulated industries.
• Experience working within global delivery organizations.
