Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to serve as the engineering authority on projects and tenders with low to medium complexity. You will execute complete engineering assignments, prepare substation layouts, grounding and lightning drawings, and cover cable routings and BOMs for various project scales in line with contract specs and quality standards.

Working from end-customer specifications and input from the OU Engineering team, you will estimate engineering hours,

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor or Diploma) with relevant licensure.
• Experience in substations and project engineering is required.
• Proficiency with CAD design tools and international standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substation layouts and section drawings, grounding and lightning drawings.
• Develop cable routings, bill of materials, and RFQs for tenders.
• Vet vendor offers and estimate engineering hours for projects.
• Ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE/AS standards in designs.

Based on technical specification from end customers and inputs from OU Engineering team, prepare Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Bill of materials, RFQs, vetting of vendor offers, engg hours estimation, visit to project sites, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation etc.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Primary Engineering Deliverables. Experience in handling complete Engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS projects, Exposure to International experience & Standards IEC, IEEE & AS.
• Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Cable tray routings, Clearance drawings.
• Understanding of auxiliary design aspects of substations, such as LVAC / LVDC supplies, Cable sizing, Battery & Battery Charger Sizing, etc.
• Technical data sheets verification of primary equipment. Knowledge of primary equipment, such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, etc.
• Vendor Offer Evaluations. FAT / SAT of primary equipment, system as and when needed.
• Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation. Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering effort.
• Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system & follow Opex initiatives.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• Bachelor’s or diploma degree in Electrical Engineering, with 7 - 12 years’ experience.
• Proficiency in required CAD design tools (BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, Microstation / AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT, 3D competence).
• Knowledge of relevant International standards ex. IEEE, IEC,etc. Knowledge in substation tendering and project engineering activities (technical & commercial).
• Individual contributor using in-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects / challenges often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of related disciplines in the organization.
• Works independently, applying established standards. Dynamic and Proactive, willing to grow in the organization.
• Team player, ready to play the role across the different countries. High level of ownership.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
