Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking an experienced Substation Engineer to lead design and tendering for AIS & GIS projects. You will prepare layouts, grounding, lightning systems, cable routings, BOMs, and vendor evaluations while coordinating with global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 10–15 years' industry experience.
• 7–10 years in substation tendering and project engineering (technical & commercial).
• Proficient in CAD design tools: BIM, Navisworks, MicroStation/AutoCAD, Revit.
• Familiar with IEC, IEEE and other international standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork; proactive and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substation layouts and section drawings, grounding and lightning system designs.
• Develop cable routings, cable tray routings, clearance drawings and BOMs.
• Vet vendor offers, support RFQs, and conduct site visits as needed.
• Estimate hours, assess technical risk, and support project managers and teams.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and quality protocols.

Job description

Engineering authority for projects/tenders with low to medium complexity. Execution of complete engineering assignments on small, medium or large projects/tender cost effectively and in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards. Based on technical specification from end customers and inputs from OU Engineering team, prepare Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design drawings, Cable routings, Bill of materials, RFQs, vetting of vendor offers, hours estimation, visit to project sites, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation. Coordinate with Engineering Manager, Engineering Leads, Tendering team, Project managers, SCM, Secondary and civil/steel design functions, consultants, end customers and provide required support in each Project/Tender.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Primary Engineering Deliverables. Experience in handling complete Engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS projects, Exposure to International experience & Standards IEC, IEEE & AS
• Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design drawings, Cable routings, Cable tray routings, Clearance drawings ,etc
• Understanding of auxiliary design aspects of substations, such as LVAC / LVDC supplies, Cable sizing, Battery & Battery Charger Sizing, etc
• Technical data sheets verification of primary equipment. Knowledge of primary equipment, such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, etc
• Vendor Offer evaluations. FAT / SAT of primary equipment, system as and when needed.
• Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering effort.
• Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system & follow Opex initiatives.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• Bachelors Engineering in Electrical, have 10-15 years experience.
• Should have minimum 7-10 years exp in Knowledge in substation tendering and project engineering activities (technical & commercial).
• Proficiency in required CAD design tools (BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, MicroStation / AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT, 3D competence).
• Knowledge of relevant international standards ex. IEEE, IEC, etc.
• Individual contributor using in-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects / challenges often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.
• Dynamic and Proactive, willing to grow in the organization.
• Team Player, ready to play the role across the different countries. High level of ownership.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality digital solutions.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
