Job summary

Valuelabs seeks a PostgreSQL Developer with 8+ years of enterprise database experience to design, develop, and optimize PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL schemas for reporting and analytics. You will implement indexing, partitioning, materialized views, and complex KPI logic while tuning performance and supporting migrations from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in enterprise database development, performance tuning, and data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL database schemas for reporting and analytics workloads.
• Develop and maintain PL/pgSQL procedures, functions, triggers, views, indexes, and other database objects.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries utilizing joins, CTEs, window functions, analytical functions, and aggregations.
• Design and implement optimal indexing, partitioning, and materialized view strategies.
• Configure, monitor, and tune Aurora PostgreSQL environments for high performance and scalability.
• Develop Python-based automation for ETL processes, reconciliation, operational support, and database administration activities.
• Create Unix/Linux shell scripts for automation, monitoring, deployment, and maintenance tasks.
• Design and implement complex KPI calculations, reporting logic, and analytical features.
• Analyze query execution plans and resolve database performance bottlenecks.
• Support database migration initiatives, including Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migrations.
• Collaborate with application development, analytics, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable database solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide operational support for critical database systems.
• Mentor junior developers and promote PostgreSQL development best practices.
• Experience designing schemas for reporting and analytics platforms, including dimensional modeling and fact/dimension structures.
• Hands‑on experience with materialized views and refresh strategies.
• Proficiency in Python for automation, ETL, reconciliation, and operational support.
• Proficiency in Unix/Linux shell scripting.
• Experience managing and optimizing AWS Aurora PostgreSQL databases.
• Familiarity with AWS database services such as Aurora PostgreSQL, RDS, DMS, and CloudWatch.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration abilities.
