Job summary

GBIT (Global Bridge InfoTech Inc) in Hyderabad is seeking an experienced PostGress / SQL Data Engineer with strong PostgreSQL and SQL expertise to build scalable, high-performance DB queries and advanced DAX calculations.

You will design data pipelines, optimize stored procedures, and collaborate with analysts to meet reporting needs in an Agile environment.

This role emphasizes performance tuning, complex joins, and documentation across SQL scripts, DAX logic, and data models.

Qualifications

• 6–9 years hands-on data engineering experience.
• Strong SQL/PostgreSQL and data modeling skills.
• Experience with DAX, Power Query, and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Write complex SQL queries, window functions, CTEs, aggregations, and transformations.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to ingest, transform, and deliver data from multiple sources.
• Understand, validate, and optimize existing stored procedures and functions.
• Apply PostgreSQL performance optimization techniques including index tuning.
• Write complex, high-performance SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views in PostgreSQL to support business logic and reporting needs.
• EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, partitioning, minimizing sequential scans, optimizing analytical queries.
• Work with product owners, analysts, and business users to understand reporting and data needs.
• Convert business logic into efficient SQL
• Maintain documentation for SQL scripts, DAX logic, data models, and development standards.
• Implement and maintain complex joins (inner, outer, cross, self), CTEs, window functions, and advanced aggregations to support analytical use cases.
• Participate in sprint discussions, requirement finalizations, and production validations.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced PostGress / SQL Data Engineer who possesses strong SQL/PostgreSQL expertise, and can build scalable, high-performance DB Queries. The ideal candidate should be able to understand complex stored procedure logic, write optimized SQL queries, create advanced DAX calculations.

Key Responsibilities:

PostgreSQL / SQL Development

• Write complex SQL queries, window functions, CTEs, aggregations, and transformations.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to ingest, transform, and deliver data from multiple sources.
• Understand, validate, and optimize existing stored procedures and functions.

Required Skills

Data engineer

• 7+ years hands-on experience as a Data Engineer
• Strong skills in DAX, data modeling, Power Query, and performance tuning.
• Experience with RLS, and dataflows.

SQL / PostgreSQL

• 5+ years SQL experience, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Ability to interpret and improve complex stored procedure logic.
• Expertise in SPs, UDFs, analytical queries, and performance tuning.

Tools & Practices

• Experience with Git/version control.
• Familiar with AI-assisted development (GitHub Copilot in VS Code) and writing effective prompts.

Other Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum settings.

Years of Experience

• Overall Experience: 6 to 9 years
• SQL/PostgreSQL: 5+ years

Good-to-Have Skills

• Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric components.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for BI solutions.
• Experience with streaming data technologies such as Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
• Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
• Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and cataloging tools.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
