The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (ICTS‑TIFR), a premier research centre (an Autonomous, Grant‑in‑Aid Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India), invites highly motivated and self‑driven individuals for the following positions under the project “Turbulent dynamics and energy cascades of internal gravity waves.”
Number of positions: 01
Project: Turbulent dynamics and energy cascades of internal gravity waves
This project aims to identify the detailed pathways internal gravity waves take to go from large forcing scales to small dissipative scales. The research will be interdisciplinary in nature and will involve the usage of applied mathematical techniques, high resolution numerical simulations, and big data management. Direct numerical simulations and reduced model development will be pursued as part of this research.
PhD from a recognized university in Atmosphere‑Ocean Science/Applied and Computational Mathematics/Engineering/Physics or similar related disciplines.
House Rent Allowance (HRA): The postdoctoral candidate is eligible for Housing Rent Allowance (HRA) as per norms.
Medical Benefits: The postdoctoral researcher will be entitled to medical benefits as per norms.
Interested candidates must email a single pdf containing the above documents in the order given below to jimthomas@icts.res.in by 24/11/2025.
Initial appointment will be for a period of one year, with renewal up to two more years subject to competitive performance and continuing project funding.
