International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of TIFR invites applications for the post (one) of Project Librarian for its campus in Bangalore. The individual should be highly motivated person having ‘hands on’ experience of working in a library. The selected candidate shall be offered consolidated salary based on qualification and experience. The contract will be initially for a period of one year and may be further extended depending on the performance.

• Post Graduate in sciences or mathematics with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks
• Knowledge of Libsys ( or free alternative like Koha etc.)
• Minimum three years of work experience in a similar profile

Candidate should be willing to learn and adapt to new paradigms. Experience in using Linux operating system is preferred. Candidates with Ph.D. degree in sciences or mathematics or with some research experience in these subjects will be preferred. Candidates with a degree in library sciences would be preferred.

Job Profile:

Job profile includes developing and managing collections of books and journals (both paper and electronic), as well as websites; creating, updating and managing electronic and printed information resources; selecting, acquiring and cataloguing information using library and information software; keeping up to date with relevant professional developments in the library science sector and allied works; establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with academic staff and students; dealing with budgets and purchasing resources; handling external businesses, such as suppliers; managing library furniture and equipment

Upper Age limit: 28 years (as on 1.1.2016)

Tenure: Initial appointment will be for 1 year which may be extended upto 3 years depending upon performance and requirement of the Centre. It is a project appointment.

Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualification. The selected candidate will be required to join immediately.
