Job summary

Commonwealth Bank in Bengaluru seeks a Platform Engineer – SAP to join the Core Banking Platform Crew. You will provide operational SAP Basis and HANA support across production and non-production environments, monitor systems, manage transports, and apply upgrades while aligning with security and resilience practices.

The role emphasizes cloud exposure (AWS), automation (Ansible, Terraform, GitHub), and DevOps enablement to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on SAP Basis experience in enterprise environments.
• Exposure to SAP HANA administration and support.
• Experience supporting SAP Production systems.
• Knowledge of Linux (RHEL or SUSE), HA concepts, backup & recovery, SAP upgrades and maintenance.
• Experience in Incident, Problem and Change Management processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support and administration for SAP Basis and SAP HANA platforms across Production and Non-Production environments, including system monitoring, transport management, client/system refreshes, kernel upgrades, support packs, and certificate management.
• Support SAP HANA administration and optimization activities, including installations, SPS/revision upgrades, system replication monitoring, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and Scale-Up/Scale-Out environments.
• Participate in SAP upgrade, migration, and platform lifecycle management initiatives, ensuring compliance with security, resilience, and support requirements.
• Deliver L2/L3 production support by managing incidents, problems, changes, and releases, while driving root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and service restoration activities.
• Support SAP workloads hosted on AWS, developing working knowledge of cloud services such as EC2, EBS, EFS, FSx, cloud storage, and BACKINT technologies.
• Contribute to automation, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps initiatives using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and GitHub to improve platform standardization and operational efficiency.
• Enhance observability and continuous improvement efforts through monitoring, alerting, dashboard development, reporting, automation opportunities, and process optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including SAP Functional, ABAP, Security, Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering teams, vendors, and support partners to support project delivery, technical discussions, and operational excellence.

As a Platform Engineer – SAP, you will be part of the Core Banking Platform Crew within Retail Technology, supporting one of Australia’s most critical SAP Core Banking platforms. You will contribute to the operation, maintenance, support and continuous improvement of SAP Basis and SAP HANA platforms while gaining exposure to AWS Cloud, automation, resilience and modern Platform Engineering practices.

This role is ideal for an engineer with solid SAP Basis and HANA experience who is looking to further develop their platform engineering, cloud and DevOps capabilities
