As a Planning Engineer focused on electrical planning, you will be responsible for preparing project schedules, monitoring progress, ensuring compliance with specifications, and supporting technical teams with accurate planning data. You will collaborate closely with project managers, site engineers, design teams, and procurement to ensure timely and cost-efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as MS Project or Primavera (P6).
- Prepare baseline schedules, weekly and monthly progress schedules, and recovery plans when required.
- Break down project scope into work packages, define activity sequences, and estimate durations based on electrical engineering deliverables.
- Track deadlines and identify schedule deviations, delays, or risks, and propose corrective actions.
Electrical Planning & Coordination
- Review electrical drawings, BOQs, and specifications to prepare accurate material, manpower, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with electrical design and execution teams to ensure alignment between planning documents and actual site conditions.
- Assist in planning for electrical installations such as LV/MV systems, cabling, switchgear, lighting, earthing, and control systems.
- Forecast electrical material needs and support procurement with technical input on material specifications and delivery timelines.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor site progress, compare it with the project schedule, and highlight any discrepancies.
- Prepare progress dashboards, S-curve reports, manpower histograms, and productivity analyses.
- Conduct regular site visits to validate progress reports and ensure adherence to project timelines.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly project performance reports for internal and client stakeholders.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation, including schedules, progress reports, and resource plans.
- Ensure compliance with electrical engineering standards, safety guidelines, and quality control requirements.
- Support in preparing work method statements, planning documentation, and handover materials.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 2–3 years of experience as a Planning Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar role with a focus on electrical planning.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Project or Primavera (P6) for scheduling.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of project management processes and construction workflows.
- Good command of AutoCAD and MS Excel (advanced formulas, dashboards, pivot tables).
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
