Job summary

Gateway IB World School, Padur, Chennai, part of Gateway Group of International Schools, seeks a Physics Faculty member for MYP and IBDP. You will deliver inquiry-based Physics aligned with IB standards, supervise IA, and support lab work and assessments. CBSE/IGCSE experience with Grades 9–12 is welcomed, plus IB pedagogy training.

The role requires a strong physics foundation, collaboration with Science faculty, and participation in IB training and school events. Immediate joiners preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's in Physics or related field (B.Ed. preferred).
• 3–5 years of experience teaching Physics to Grades 9–12 in CBSE/IGCSE/IB.
• Experience with CBSE/IGCSE (3–4 years) handling Grades 9–12 and willing to learn IB MYP/DP.
• Prior MYP/IBDP teaching experience or training is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Strong physics fundamentals with ability to teach lab components.

• Plan and deliver Physics lessons for MYP (Grades 9-10) and IBDP (Grades 11-12) aligned with IB frameworks.
• Facilitate inquiry-based, conceptual learning rather than pure content.
• Guide IBDP students through practical work, IA, and Group 4 project.
• Design formative and summative assessments per MYP/IBDP criteria.

• Maintain records of student performance, IA progress, and lab work.

Role Summary

We are looking for a dedicated Physics Faculty member to teach Physics across MYP (Grades 9-10) and IBDP (Grades 11-12). The role involves delivering conceptual, inquiry-based Physics instruction aligned with the IB framework, guiding students through the MYP Sciences criteria and the IBDP Physics syllabus (SL/HL), including practical work and the Internal Assessment (IA) process.

We welcome applications from experienced CBSE/IGCSE Physics teachers who have handled Grades 9-12 and are enthusiastic about transitioning into the IB curriculum. We will provide full support and training on IB pedagogy, assessment, and documentation to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Physics lessons for MYP (Grades 9-10) and IBDP (Grades 11-12), aligned with IB curriculum frameworks.
• Facilitate inquiry-based, conceptual learning rather than purely content-driven instruction.
• Guide IBDP students through practical work, the Group 4 project, and the Physics Internal Assessment (IA).
• Design and implement formative and summative assessments in line with MYP criteria (AD) and IBDP assessment objectives.
• Support students in developing approaches to learning (ATLs) research, thinking, communication, and self-management skills.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance, IA progress, and lab work documentation.
• Collaborate with fellow Science faculty and the MYP/DP Coordinator on curriculum planning, moderation, and vertical articulation across grades.
• Communicate regularly with parents on student progress and areas for growth.
• Actively participate in IB training, workshops, and internal professional development to build fluency in IB pedagogy and assessment (especially for candidates transitioning from other boards).
• Support co-curricular activities, science exhibitions, and school events as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Physics or a related field; B.Ed. preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience teaching Physics to Grades 9-12, in CBSE, IGCSE, or IB curricula.
• Candidates with CBSE/IGCSE experience (at least 3-4 years) handling Grades 9-12 are welcome to apply, provided they are willing to learn and adapt to the IB MYP/DP framework.
• Prior MYP/IBDP teaching experience or IB training is an advantage, though not mandatory for the right candidate.
• Strong foundation in Physics concepts with the ability to teach practical/lab-based components effectively.
