Job summary

Black Duck Software, Inc. is seeking a performance engineer to deploy test environments, set up databases, and drive performance testing in cloud and on-premise Linux environments.

You will work with Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins, writing scripts in Python, Bash, and Perl to validate and optimize system performance. The role requires 3+ years of experience in performance engineering, strong Linux skills, and expertise with monitoring and database tuning to identify bottlenecks across

Qualifications

• 3+ years of dedicated performance engineering experience, preferably with complex, containerized, distributed products in the cloud.
• Strong experience with Linux, Docker and Kubernetes, AWS and/or GCP, and load testing tools.
• Experience scripting with Bash, Perl or Python and diagnosing bottlenecks in PostgreSQL or other relational DBs.
• Proficiency in using performance monitoring tools like New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and set up test instances and PostgreSQL or any databases on-prem, Linux and in cloud (AWS/GCP).
• Troubleshoot deployment, test, and product issues.
• Develop performance tests using tools like LoadRunner, JMeter, Cypress and custom scripts.
• Monitor, analyze, and diagnose issues to identify bottlenecks and improve performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deploy and set up test instances and PostgreSQL OR Any databases on-prem on Linux and in the cloud in AWS OR GCP leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins and working heavily in the command-line.
• Troubleshoot deployment issues, test issues, and product issues.
• Develop performance tests using tools such as LoadRunner, DevWeb (JavaScript), Apache Benchmark (ab), and Cypress, and custom tools and scripts written in Python, Perl, Bash, and SQL.
• Monitor, analyze, and use whatever it takes to diagnose issues and bottlenecks and gain insights, including but not limited to: test results, Jenkins logs, application logs, PostgreSQL logs, Docker, Kubernetes, NetData, Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, Datadog, AWS or GCP cloud monitoring, RabbitMQ, custom PostgreSQL OR Any databases queries.

Key Requirements:

• Enjoy performance engineering, are good at it, and have 3+ years of dedicated experience doing it, preferably with complex, containerized, distributed products in the cloud.
• Strong experience with:
• o Linux
• o Docker and Kubernetes
• o GCP and/or AWS
• o LoadRunner, JMeter, or other performance testing tools
• o Scripting, such as with Bash, Perl, or Python
