Job summary

Bechtel India is seeking a Piping Designer to contribute to the design and drafting of piping layouts for diverse global projects. The role involves preparing layouts and study drawings, using AutoCAD, Revit, and S3D, while aligning with project standards and schedules.

With up to 2 years of piping design experience, you will work closely with supervisors, other disciplines, and project teams to deliver safe, reliable plant designs and efficient construction outcomes at Bechtel's Indian offices

Qualifications

• Diploma or course in engineering or science with piping layout design/drafting experience.
• Knowledge of materials related to discipline design responsibilities.
• 3D/2D tools knowledge applicable to discipline work.
• CA E/CAD tools applied to engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare layouts, study drawings, and detailed construction drawings using CAD/REVIT/S3D under guidance.
• Ensure designs meet approved standards for quality, safety, and economy.
• Provide input on work progress and discipline use for the project.
• Foster an open, trusting, collaborative team environment.
• Participate in equipment design, system layouts, and REVIT-based design work.
• Understand roles of other disciplines on the project.

Job Summary:

• Applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria in making adaptations and modifications under guidance.
• Performs overall systems design and engineering tasks, within a discipline, having less degree of complexity.
• Performs assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for an engineering discipline within a global business unit.
• Participates in the operation of a small size design group in a particular discipline.
• Assists in the preparation of plans and coordinates the assigned work to meet the project schedules.
• Requires a knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.

Major Responsibilities:

• Directly performs work of designers and drafters with guidance from supervisors. This work includes the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed construction drawings using 2D CAD/3D software like AutoCAD/Revit/S3D.
• Delivers work with compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.
• Provides input for work progress, as required, for project and discipline use.
• Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
• Participates in one or more of the following: a) Equipment design and development b) System design and layouts c) Uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering in REVIT tool.
• Understands roles played by other disciplines on the project.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• A recognized diploma / course in an engineering or scientific discipline, with experience in piping layout design and drafting.
• Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline s design responsibilities.
• Knowledge of 3D/2D tools, as applicable to the specific discipline work.
• The above is normally acquired through:
• Specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices, and CAD, OR
• Application of computer aided engineering (CAE) / computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience Level: up to 2 years of working as Piping Designer. Experience of working on Semiconductor, Data Center or Power projects will be an additional advantage. Basic skill in oral and written communication.
