Qualifications

  • Strong experience in backend chargeback processing and transaction-level investigation.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, Lookup functions, Complex formulas, Macros, Power Query.

The Risk Operations (RiskOps) team manages backend chargeback and dispute operations, transaction-level investigations, reconciliations, operational reporting and exception management. The team works closely with Operations, Risk, Finance, Technology and other stakeholders to strengthen process controls, improve operational efficiency and support timely resolution of chargeback-related cases.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – RiskOps to manage chargeback operations, MIS reporting, reconciliation and reporting automation. The role will focus on managing backend chargeback and dispute operations, ensuring accurate transaction and case processing, monitoring operational performance, investigating exceptions and developing automated reporting solutions. The position will also support process improvements, strengthen data and control frameworks, and improve efficiency, accuracy and recovery outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and monitor end-to-end backend chargeback and dispute operations.
  • Track chargeback cases, transaction details, representments, recoveries, reversals and applicable deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate chargeback MIS, case trackers, ageing reports and status dashboards.
  • Reconcile chargeback data across internal systems, payment networks, banks and operational reports.
  • Validate transaction, financial and case-level data before submission, response or closure.
  • Investigate discrepancies, processing breaks, data mismatches and unresolved exceptions.
  • Monitor chargeback volumes, reason codes, recovery rates, turnaround times and SLA performance.
  • Track pending, accepted, rejected, expired and escalated cases.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of operational errors, data issues and recurring chargeback problems.
  • Develop and maintain automated reports, dashboards and operational trackers.
  • Automate repetitive backend activities using advanced Excel, formulas, macros, Power Query or other approved tools.
  • Reduce manual effort through standardised workflows, data validations and exception alerts.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly management reports on chargeback performance.
  • Analyse operational trends and identify opportunities to improve productivity, accuracy and recovery rates.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen operational controls.
  • Maintain process documentation, control checks, reporting calendars and data definitions.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve operational, financial and data-related issues.
  • Support audits, process reviews, management queries and business requirements related to chargeback operations.
Requirements:
  • Graduate degree in any discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in chargeback operations, dispute management, MIS, reconciliations or financial-services operations.
  • Strong experience in backend chargeback processing and transaction-level investigation.
  • Good understanding of transaction flows, the chargeback lifecycle, case ageing and operational SLAs.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including: PivotTables, Lookup functions, Complex formulas, Macros, Power Query
  • Experience in developing operational dashboards, trackers and management reports.
  • Strong experience in reconciliation, exception management, data validation and operational reporting.
  • Ability to monitor and analyse chargeback volumes, reason codes, recoveries, losses, turnaround times and SLA performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, investigate discrepancies and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to identify automation opportunities and convert manual processes into standardised and controlled reporting workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage high-volume operational data accurately.
  • Good stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with Operations, Risk, Finance, Technology and other internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate outputs within defined timelines.
