Job summary

BIG Language Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full-time Interpreter to facilitate accurate, culturally appropriate communication between English-speaking staff and LEP individuals across OPI and VRI, aligned to a US shift.

You will support interactions in healthcare, insurance, social services, and other client communications, uphold confidentiality, ethics, and HIPAA, and participate in ongoing training and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of professional interpretation experience.
• Native or near-native fluency in English and the target language.
• Experience with Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI).
• Healthcare, hospital, or clinical interpretation experience preferred.

Job Summary:

The Interpreter is responsible for facilitating accurate, complete, and culturally appropriate communication between English-speaking representatives and Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals across multiple interpretation modalities, including Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI).

This role supports a wide range of interactions, including healthcare, customer service, insurance, pharmacy, social services, financial assistance, scheduling, and general client communications. The Interpreter must possess exceptional language proficiency, strong listening skills, cultural competency, professionalism, and the ability to accurately interpret complex conversations while maintaining confidentiality, impartiality, and the highest ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

Interpretation

• Provide accurate, complete, and unbiased interpretation between English and the target language.
• Maintain the highest standards of accuracy without summarizing, omitting, or adding information.
• Adapt communication appropriately while preserving the speaker's original meaning and intent.
• Manage conversations professionally while remaining neutral and impartial.
• Clarify linguistic misunderstandings when necessary while maintaining interpreter ethics.

Quality & Compliance

• Comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Adhere to the National Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Medical Interpreters.
• Maintain professionalism, impartiality, and cultural sensitivity throughout all interactions.
• Follow company policies, client protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Operational Performance

• Maintain assigned schedules and availability requirements.
• Meet productivity and service level expectations.
• Ensure timely connection to interpretation sessions.
• Accurately document required call information following company procedures.
• Stay current with medical terminology, healthcare procedures, and industry best practices.
• Participate in required training, coaching sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Healthcare, hospital, or clinical interpretation experience strongly preferred.
• Language certification or formal training in interpretation is a plus.
