A healthcare provider operating in the secondary and tertiary acute care hospital sector, focused on delivering high-quality trauma, emergency and orthopaedic surgical services to semi-urban and rural populations. We are expanding surgical capability in Chhattisgarh and seek a hands‑on Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Trauma) to lead operative care, emergency management and clinical governance at our Baloda Bazar facility.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform definitive trauma surgeries including open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF), intramedullary nailing, external fixation and pelvic/acetabular procedures with high surgical quality and safety.
- Lead emergency orthopaedic on-call duties: triage, resuscitate and stabilise polytrauma patients in coordination with anaesthesia, critical care and imaging teams.
- Manage peri‑operative care: pre‑op planning, intra‑op decision‑making, post‑op follow‑up, discharge planning and rehabilitation oversight.
- Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents and theatre teams; deliver bedside teaching and structured skill development for trauma protocols.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, contribute to audit, morbidity & mortality reviews and implement improvements in surgical outcomes and infection control.
- Ensure compliance with surgical safety checklists, hospital policies and quality standards while supporting service development and patient‑centred care.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MS (Orthopaedics) or DNB (Orthopaedics)
- Valid registration with the relevant State Medical Council in India
- Proven operative experience in major trauma procedures (ORIF, intramedullary nailing, external fixation, pelvic/acetabular fixation)
- Ability to manage orthopaedic emergencies and lead multidisciplinary on-call teams
- ATLS and ACLS certification (or equivalent trauma/critical care certifications)
- Willingness to work on‑site in Baloda Bazar, Chhattisgarh and commit to rostered emergency duties
Preferred
- Fellowship in Trauma, Joint Replacement or a related subspecialty
- Experience in arthroplasty and arthroscopy
- Prior experience in semi‑urban or rural hospital settings and in training junior clinical staff
