The Solutions Management Orchestration Platform Engineering team builds and maintains data-processing orchestration platforms supporting MSCI’s standard solutions, partnership offerings, and innovative products.
The team is responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and operating Apache Airflow-based orchestration solutions.
- Building reliable, scalable, and maintainable Python services and automation.
- Supporting solutions hosted on-premises, in Microsoft Azure, and in Google Cloud Platform.
- Running and managing workloads in Kubernetes environments.
- Maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Git and Azure DevOps.
- Ensuring the reliability, security, observability, and operational supportability of production systems.
- Collaborating with product, engineering, operations, and partner teams to deliver business-critical capabilities.
- Applying AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, quality, and delivery speed.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain Python-based orchestration and data-processing components.
- Design, implement, and support Apache Airflow DAGs, workflows, operators, and integrations.
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot applications running in Kubernetes.
- Contribute to solutions across on-premises, Azure, and GCP environments.
- Create and maintain automated build, test, deployment, and release pipelines in Azure DevOps.
- Use Git and established engineering practices for version control, peer review, and collaborative development.
- Investigate production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable solutions.
- Improve system reliability, monitoring, alerting, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with globally distributed colleagues and stakeholders across the product lifecycle.
- Contribute to technical design decisions, documentation, and continuous improvement of the team’s platforms and practices.
- Use AI tools such as Codex, Claude, and Cursor responsibly to accelerate development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and knowledge discovery.
- Participate in knowledge sharing, code reviews, and support activities across locations.
We are looking for a technically strong and collaborative engineer with experience in software development, orchestration, and cloud-native environments.
You will be well suited to this role if you have:
- Professional experience developing production-quality software with Python.
- Hands‑on experience with Apache Airflow or a comparable workflow‑orchestration platform.
- Experience working with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
- Familiarity with Docker and Docker Desktop for local development and testing.
- Experience using Git and Azure DevOps, including repositories and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing, code quality, versioning, troubleshooting, and observability.
- Experience working with at least one major cloud platform; Azure or GCP experience is valuable.
- The ability to understand complex existing systems and make sound engineering decisions in a production environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a structured approach to incident investigation.
- The ability to work effectively with distributed teams and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of solutions from design through production support.
- Experience using AI‑assisted engineering tools to improve productivity while applying appropriate human review and engineering judgment.
Experience with data platforms, APIs, event-driven systems, infrastructure‑as‑code, security practices, or financial‑services technology would be an advantage.
