About the role
This OpsTech Engineer will support facilities engineering in production assets across the globe.
Work location is Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive understanding of process systems and integration of systems.
- Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to build facility surveillance plans and review findings with global site teams.
- Perform real-time process surveillance monitoring, optimization, remote troubleshooting, and reporting.
- Identify deviation and provide resolution to Operations team.
- Use analytical tools for data driven analysis for enhanced visualization and identification of actionable insights.
- Assess, categorize, and allocate downtime and perform facility mass balance.
- Identify, map, and monitor facilities constraints.
- Identify options to improve/control constraints.
- Troubleshoot & optimize equipment/processes including heat exchangers, separators, pump/compression units, fractionation units, acid gas treatment units, water treatment units, refrigeration and gas liquefaction units, process safety systems, and process control systems.
- Perform root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures or process upsets.
- Accountable to deliver engineering packages to site for procurement and construction by working closely with Contractor, Business Unit, and other engineering disciplines.
- Support Management of Change for facilities modifications including development of scope and completion of engineering deliverables for routine maintenance and turnaround scopes.
- Identify and progress capacity enhancement, reliability improvement, and cost reduction initiatives to improve unit profitability.
- Develop and modify process simulation models using standard process modeling software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, HTRI).
- Provide coaching and mentoring to early career engineers.
- Support commissioning / start-up / turnaround activities at site as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, petroleum, or mechanical engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience within the oil and gas industry (Upstream, Refining, or Petrochemical) in Process Engineering, Operations Support or Technical Services role(s).
- Experience and competency in various oil and Gas Industry Process Design and Process Safety standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Willing to work in shifts (1:30PM–10:30PM IST) or (9:00AM–6:00PM IST).
- Tool proficiency: Aspen Hysys/HTRI/PRO-II.
- Strong organizational, planning/coordination, interface, and technical judgment skills.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in mentoring early career process engineers.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Willing to work full‑time from Bengaluru based office location.
- Willing to work flexible working hours to provide around‑the‑clock support for global affiliates.
- Willing and able to travel nationally and/or internationally as required.
- Should be legally authorized to work in India.
