Job summary

Blue Dart Express Limited is seeking an Operations Executive for inbound shift leadership at a service centre. You will oversee receipt, unloading, scanning, sorting and reconciliation of shipments, ensuring service commitments and SOPs are met.

You will supervise Ops Staff and TSRs, optimize manpower, and drive safety, compliance and productivity across the shift. The role requires 2–4 years in courier/logistics operations and strong coordination with other teams.

Qualifications

• Education and experience aligned with inbound logistics roles.
• Experience leading frontline operational teams and coordinating shift operations.
• Exposure to inbound operations, shipment processing, sorting, scanning and reconciliation.
• Familiarity with handheld scanners and productivity reporting will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all inbound operational activities during the assigned shift.
• Ensure timely receipt, unloading and processing of inbound vehicles and shipments.
• Monitor shipment receiving, scanning, reconciliation, segregation and sorting activities.
• Coordinate with outbound operations and network teams for smooth flow.
• Ensure accurate shipment scanning, sorting and reconciliation with minimal errors.
• Uphold safety, SOPs, and compliance across the shift.
• Plan manpower across workstations to maximize productivity.
• Conduct daily shift briefings on safety, priorities and performance.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality and discipline; coach as needed.

Position Overview:

The Inbound Shift In-charge is responsible for leading all inbound operations within the assigned Service Centre, ensuring timely receipt, unloading, scanning, sorting, reconciliation and processing of shipments while meeting Blue Dart's service commitments and operational standards.

The role provides frontline leadership to Ops Staff, Senior Ops Staff, Territory Service Representatives (TSRs) and Senior Territory Service Representatives (Senior TSRs) deployed during the shift, ensuring optimum manpower utilization, operational discipline, shipment accuracy, productivity, safety and compliance. The incumbent plays a key role in ensuring smooth shift operations, maintaining operational governance and supporting seamless connectivity across Blue Dart's network.

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage inbound shift operations by ensuring timely and accurate receipt, processing and reconciliation of shipments, while driving operational productivity, service quality, workforce effectiveness, safety, compliance and adherence to Blue Dart's Standard Operating Procedures.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Inbound Operations Management

• Lead and supervise all inbound operational activities during the assigned shift.
• Ensure timely receipt, unloading and processing of inbound vehicles and shipments.
• Monitor shipment receiving, scanning, reconciliation, segregation and sorting activities.
• Ensure timely movement of shipments to subsequent operational stages in line with defined service commitments.
• Coordinate with outbound operations and network teams to ensure smooth operational flow.

Shipment Processing & Service Quality

• Ensure accurate shipment scanning, sorting and reconciliation with minimal operational errors.
• Monitor shipment quality and promptly escalating damaged, short or discrepant shipments.
• Drive adherence to shipment processing timelines, operational SLAs and service commitments.
• Minimize shipment exceptions, mis-sorts and operational delays through proactive monitoring.
• Ensure operational readiness during peak volumes and contingency situations.

People Leadership & Shift Management

• Plan and allocate manpower across operational workstations to achieve optimum productivity.
• Lead, coach and support Ops Staff, Senior Ops Staff, TSRs and Senior TSRs during the assigned shift.
• Conduct daily shift briefings on safety, operational priorities, productivity and service expectations.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, shift discipline and workforce deployment.
• Provide on-the-job coaching to improve capability, productivity and operational effectiveness.
• Foster teamwork, collaboration and a positive work environment focused on operational excellence.

Safety, Compliance & Operational Discipline

• Ensure strict adherence to Blue Dart Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines and operational policies.
• Promote a culture of safety, discipline and compliance across the shift.
• Ensure team members wear the prescribed uniform, identity card and personal protective equipment, wherever applicable.
• Monitor workplace housekeeping and ensure a clean, organized and safe operational environment.
• Promote integrity, ethical conduct and zero tolerance towards fraud, policy violations and operational malpractice.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and company requirements.

Operational Governance & Productivity

• Monitor shift productivity and operational performance against defined targets.
• Review operational dashboards, reports and shift performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
• Ensure timely completion of operational documentation and accurate system updates.
• Conduct effective shift handovers, highlighting key operational issues and priorities.
• Escalate operational risks, service failures and resource constraints to the reporting manager in a timely manner.
• Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Coordinate closely with Outbound Shift In-charge to ensure seamless shipment flow.
• Work collaboratively with Customer Service, Security, Fleet, Network Operations and other support functions.
• Support implementation of operational initiatives, process improvements and business priorities.
• Build effective working relationships across teams to ensure smooth operational execution.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

• Graduate in any discipline
• 10+2 (Higher Secondary) with a 3-year Diploma from a recognized institution.

Experience:

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in courier, express logistics, warehousing, distribution or supply chain operations.
• Experience in leading frontline operational teams and coordinating shift operations.
• Exposure to inbound operations, shipment processing, sorting, scanning, reconciliation and service centre operations.
• Experience working with operational systems, handheld scanners and productivity reporting will be an advantage.
